Best Player In 2008
Who you think was the best NBA player in 2008 regular season?
EDIT: Unbelievable I forgot KG, this poll is already trashed.

Stoudemire is in the poll and KG isn’t?

Yeah crazy. KG is probably 2nd or third with Paul.
Kobe was the best player in 08 I think.

What is the argument for KG over LeBron that year?

I guess I have to go back and study Lebron that year more because it seems a lot of people are a lot higher on Lebron in 08 than me. Defense though I’d say KG was the best defender in the nba pretty clearly. I think he really carried Boston in the post season too when they struggled. You’re pretty low on kg in general iirc yeah?

Re: Best Player In 2008
looking back and if we count playoffs, KG pretty easily. I'd have Lebron then CP then kobe in that order.

The Celtics were a 20-27 team in 2007 when Paul Pierce played. They were extremely young and inexperienced (Their top 5 guys in minutes were under 24, and most were 20 or 21). They then add Garnett and Allen and increase from a 34 win team to a 66 win team. They become by far the best defensive team in the NBA (and in the conversation for GOAT defensive team) while simply adding one superstar defender (Garnett) and a couple of role players (Posey and House) as well as a defensive liability in Ray Allen. It is astonishing that one player, in less than a year with new teammates, can have that kind of impact (Talk about portability ).
Offensively, Garnett was also their best player (by a decent margin at that). He integrated himself with two other stars seamlessly and led them to a title while having by far the highest +/- on the team.
This was one of Kevin Garnett's top 3 or 4 seasons, a player whose Peak for me is top 10 and prime is top 5.

Re: Best Player In 2008
Am I crazy, or is it possible that there wasn't truly a best player that year? I feel like each candidate brought something very different to the table. The guy you would most want ultimately comes down to your needs. It's not like, say, 2000 where Shaq is clearly the best choice in 90% of situations.

Lebron
Cp3
Kobe kg
How dirk or amare makes this and not kg is beyond me. There’s a legit 4 man mvp race.

It definitely was one of those years where it wasn’t clear cut. I feel the same for every year from like 05-08.
