Antetokounmpo is nowhere near Durant, you'll never win that debate. Durant has Giannis type oh physique, but he also has elite skill. He is also a champion, and other guy hasn't been past the first round in the east.

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Also there's a solid chance that like a few dozen other dudes Giannis could also replace Harrison Barnes.

I don't know who you're a super fan of but you're Giannis and Lebron insecurity is super hilarious. They are both much better than favoourite guy. Sorry.

Westbrook = 6ft3 6ft8 wingspan
Rondo = 6ft1 6ft9 wingspan

The champion argument shouldn't work. That is like Malone joining the Bulls in 1997 but worse because they were all still in their 20's. He should have joined the Bucks or Pelicans actually. He is 6' 11" but still doesn't have his physique completely in terms of build. Yes Durant is a better scorer but Giannis is still a better rebounder and defender and is similar to Shaq in terms of scoring.

That's -14%. Not great. Mostly due to his own shooting.

Who cares? Nobody cared when Shaq couldn't shoot.

Shaq played in a tough era, with real big men, and post up play. Giannis plays in an era where no one can touch you, and teams are more concerned with guarding the three point line, than guarding the paint. He scores mostly easy baskets, and a lot of them are product of traveling. I have to take points away for that, when we compare him to other great players. He lacks elite level skill, and that will cost him again in the playoffs.

Didn't he crush it last post-season?

26.6 PER, 62.0 TS%, .239 WS/48, 6.8 BPM against a team having an SRS 3.70 higher.

I know he's not some basketball savant, but Simmons usually has pretty great feel for what a guy's ceiling could be.

He ranked Alphabet's ceiling as top 30 - absurd when you consider what he's shown this year. Of course, even becoming top 30 ever is an incredible achievement, but if we're talking purely historical ceiling, it's got to be closer to the top 10 range right?

I'm not so sure. His game might not be as resilient in the playoffs. We'd need another year of data to be sure. But I'm leaning towards him having at least a top 15-20 ceiling if him and Bud really are a match made in heaven.

Wasn't he effective last year in the playoffs (when he was nowhere near as unstoppable)?

I personally think he will be essentially as effective in the playoffs - but waiting and seeing is fine, sure.

Very cool and efficient all around game from Giannis today. One of his best this season imo.

Jazz did something very interesting last night. Guarded Giannis with the center who sagged off to still help with rebounding. He got 30 but on 30 FGAs and only 2 assists. More teams should try that. Rockets should tomorrow, Capela is more mobile than Rudy

That's not a strategy that would ever work for even lower level offensive guys like Kemba Walker. That's Giannis' stunted offensive impact exposed in a more extreme way. Forget about his FGA, you can exploit Giannis to hurt his teams offense here and there. That adds up over 75 or 100 possessions. That dictates his impact floor and ceiling.
Swinging for the fences.

hehe yeah coaches should continue to try that. For now we'll pretend that we haven't already seen coaches try every single position defending him and come up empty. But he did have this one game where he didn't shoot near 60% so yeah.

This is like saying, "The Jazz do this thing where Rudy Gobert anchors the defense at an elite level, every team should have their Center do this!" when not every center is Rudy Gobert...... (7'1 with a 7'9 wingspan and perennial DPOY candidate)

The best way to defend Giannis is to get in his shirt and stay in it. Don't let him get a head of steam, because when he does, it's over.

Gonna dust off the old thread lol. In 20 games in 2019:

28/13/6 in 31.9 mpg
32/14/7/ per 36
57% FG, 33% 3PT, 64% TS
+18.9 net rating
18-2 record

For the season he's up to 30+ PER, 60%+ TS, 10+ BPM. Only done by MJ, LeBron, Steph, and Harden.
