Obviously KG this time. Disappointed he lost the runoff. Think he showed himself to be better both as a center type (in his Boston years) and as a defender with more wing elements to his game.

Kevin Garnett. Arguable greatest peak left and amazing longevity

Some of the past criticisms against KG don't even make that much sense. I've heard that he's not a rim protector, but a power forward that averages almost 2 blocks per game is certainly a rim protector.

He is arguably the GOAT pick and roll defender, and the pick and roll rules basketball - at least in the modern era. There isn't any more important defensive skill than being able to guard the PNR, him doing it while being 7 foot tall is a nice feather.

KG anchored arguably the goat defense, albeit he has anchored a lot of meh ones. DRAPM year in and year out consistently put him at the top and that can't be a coincidence or some stat conspiracy.

My vote goes to Kevin Garnett

KG as clear choice. I don't understand why people got mad at Duncan as 1st choice though. Many people say that KG peaked higher but how is this a lock? Duncan led better defensive teams than him and he never average ones.

I will take Kevin Garnett. I hate threads on this board that involve him because it's one of the topics that feels like a political discussion, so I'm glad this one is pretty clear cut.

KG, Jones, Rodman are the only people I'd consider here. Even though I like Jones his longevity due to his physical issues not of his making hurt him here, so I too will go with KG.

I'll add my vote to the Kevin Garnett chorus. Think we can end this round early?

Case has already been made in the last thread; I too am going with Kevin Garnett.

And yeah, I think we'll probably wrap this thread up early, sometime this evening most likely.

At this point the vote is 10 for Garnett, 0 for anyone else. And not much discussion occurring (I think everyone is just waiting for the next spot). So I'm going to go ahead and call it for KG and open the next, which perhaps we'll leave open for a few extra hours since we're closing this one so quick.
#3 should be interesting, too. I honestly don't know who to expect to emerge as favorites (well, actually I somewhat expect Dennis Rodman to nab it, though I think it will be competitive [Jones, maybe Draymond???]). But really I think there are a number of worthwhile candidates.

I'd take Dennis Rodman at number 2. KG was great at rim-protection, but assuming you have a great rim-protecting Center, I think Rodman brings more to the table with his perimeter defense and general harassment.

On a side note, how did Kawhi get ranked so low in SF? LBJ and MJ both pretty overrated in these.
