Tmac vs Paul George?

Post#1 » by OkcSinceSGA » Thu Oct 3, 2019 1:57 am

Career averages are very similar, Paul George is pacing a more well rounded career though.

In terms of career achievements PG is already at just 1 less all star game, 1 less All NBA first team, has 4x All NBA defense to Tmac's 0. If PG plays at a star level for at least 4-5 more seasons (say 23/5/5+ in 70 games per year) he should surpass Tmac in everything but blocks, but potentially have a ring or two as well. Offensively PG won't peak as high as peak T-mac probably, although last year pre injury he was close (I believe 31/8/4 on STUPID efficiency, such as 40%+ from 3 on a whopping 10 3PA per game). The main difference here is PG is one of the better perimeter players in the game.

Who would you take on your favorite team? Who do you think will go down as better?

T-mac in today's game would be a monster. Not the defensive savant that PG can be but he's pretty much better at almost everything else. I'd lean towards T-Mac.

T-Mac was better offensively all around but PG is a better shooter and defender. This one is tough but T-Mac is a legit #1 option.

I don't know who I would choose. Depends on my situation

People forget how good of a 1-on-1 defender T-Mac was because of how prolific his offense was.

This board overrates Mcgrady as they had him 21st in peak list. I think Mcgrady\Pippen\George are all damn near the same level impact players. George is the worst of the three because he's not the scorer\athlete Mcgrady is and he's not the playmaker\defender Pippen is. I think Pippen's defense over Mcgrady's defense is a bigger gap than Mcgrady's offense over Pippen's offense. So this is how I would rank them.

1) Pippen 2) Mcgrady 3) George for peaks. George will probably pass up Mcgrady for careers. George could maybe pass up Pippen for careers as well if he can win 2-3 rings in LA. So George is worst for peaks but potentially 1st for careers depending how his clippers run goes.
