West would be perfect for this team I agree, but you'd have to trade Russell to get him unless drastically changing the OP. No one else has that kind of value (maybe Erving but that leaves a hole too).

You want to build a 60s/70s team for today's game, this wouldn't be the team I'd use. I'd go for more defense, more off ball players, and more front court range. I'm not sure the OP's criteria but I guessed it was players that 70s fan has been defending here recently in threads.

It's not a secret that I'm not very high on past players teleported to this era and able to start wreaking havoc. Everything from the 80's and beyond would at least need 1-2 seasons to adjust to today's speed, strength and type of game. Now you are going to send a team consisting completely of past players...and above it it is not even a well constructed team.

Most of these players shined pre-merger. ABA players Wise and Simpson saw there minutes and output drop like a stone after the merger, and were out of the league by age 30. 7x NBA All Star Bing went from all-star to bench over night and retired 2 seasons later. Gilmore went from 5x All ABA 1st team and 5x All D 1st team in 5 ABA seasons to 1x All D 2nd team in 12 NBA seasons. Even dr. J had his fair share of adjustment problems.

All by all you would have 5 guys battling each other for 3 front court spots. Maravich might be ok as a starter, but how would his fragile knees hold up against the speed of today's game. Bing would be a fringe starter, and might even consider starting Brown over him. Wise has no business in this team's front court, and would be best turned into a shooting guard and sharing the bench spot with Simpson, but neither of the two would make any other roster in 19/20.

But, besides there other problems, they would really need to work very hard on their 3 point shooting as a team. There is no way they are going to make any play offs with 5-6 mediocre to average shooters in 19/20.

I don’t know why they wouldn’t trade their bench Center for more guard depth.

I don’t think they win, or do particularly well. I don’t like time travel rules. They played with different rules in that era, and adjusting isn’t that easy.

It’s a bad way to judge a player
