Most of these are Kobe past his physical prime.

I don’t think Spreewell is at all either.

I think theres just as big disparity in how much faster Lavine is as there is in how much stronger Kobe is. Lavine's leaping ability gives him the edge.

BTW even skinny teenage Kobe before he was actually strong would ragdoll Lavine because he's more physical but I don't count that as athleticism

Also Spreewell probably top 4 most athletic SG. Other than size he has everything over Kobe

The thing that always kind of stood out to me about Kobe is he wasn't athletically off the charts on any single type of athletic measurement but he was very good at pretty much everything and then of course he had the work ethic and skill/footwork to go with it all which is what really separated him from all of the other guards/wings of his era. Also had such quick explosion when he attacked the rim.

Athletically Spree is faster, quicker, more explosive, jumps higher, and just as strong.

Of course Kobe is worlds better at actual basketball but its not because of athleticism

No, he's not any of those things. There are literally dozens of clips in this thread of Kobe doing things Spree has never done or shown he is capable of doing.

Again, what on earth are you watching?

Kobe's knees started getting bad in his mid 20's. He had knee surgeries in 2003 and 2006, another in 2010.

Let's not forget his was a shell athletically from about 2009 on, and had was playing on a really bad knee during the 2006 season, where he said he had to warm it up for 40 minutes prior to games

I think MJ was 1-2 levels above Kobe as far as pure athleticism... probably closer to 1 level more than 2. Not talking "functional basketball athleticism"... although I understand what the people who have used that term are referring to and think it's a good term. Lebron is also 1-2 levels above Kobe too, probably closer to 2 levels more than 1... or might even be more. Heck, even Dwyane Wade was more explosive than Kobe as an athlete. It's why I give Kobe's skill level the respect I do.
