REDOING THE NBA HALL OF FAME (retired in 1995 or earlier)
BAA/NBA/ABA playing careers only; we are not including college, Olympic, foreign, etc. You can select up to 10 players (you do not HAVE to fill out your list). They do not have to be in order. The 10 players with the most votes make the HOF. Voting will stay open as long as there is active interest. We take the top 10 votegetters, in case of a tie, I will go back and ask everyone to vote on just the tied players, ranking them in order with just 1st place votes counting, then 2nd if 1st ties again, etc.

Sure Things:
Larry Bird
Moses Malone
Alex English
Isiah Thomas
Adrian Dantley
Kevin McHale
Sidney Moncrief
Players I missed:
James Worthy
Larry Nance
Jack Sikma
Maurice Cheeks
Michael Cooper
Bill Laimbeer
Other top players:
Bernard King
Ralph Sampson
Walter Davis
Fat Lever
Spencer Haywood
I would love to find a reason to vote for Lever over Bernard King, I liked Lever and didn't like King (even though he was a Wizard) and I think Lever's a better player in his prime. But his prime was a bit short and it's certainly arguably who was better. Walter Davis has a good chance on longevity combined with peak/prime as well. Sampson is a bit iffy as well in terms of sustained excellence.

I will be probably also be voting for:
Bernard King
Ralph Sampson
Walter Davis
That would leave the following on the outside looking in:
Fat Lever
Spencer Haywood

Worthy also retired before 1995. Laimbeer is another player who could be considered. (edit: and Sikma)
I’m not very high on Sampson. I’m not sure he’ll even be in the convo for me.

Lock:
Larry Bird
Moses Malone
Isiah Thomas
Kevin McHale
I feel pretty good about:
James Worthy - too big a part of dynasty core
Bernard King - His longevity is reasonable despite the injuries, and major peak with 2 1st teams. I rate him higher than English and Dantley for now.
Jack Sikma - part of Sonics champion and good all around center for a while
With a lot of solid candidates like Moncrief, English, Dantley, Laimbeer, Haywood, Lucas, Wilkens I won’t call anyone else locks atm. Moncrief is probably the best player there but has only ok longevity.

Plenty of good candidates to choose from here but I still prefer Haywood over the likes of Sampson, Davis, Lever, Laimbeer, Aguirre and Sikma. I'm pretty certain about my other 9 picks tbh so I'll just put out my vote.

Leaving Cheeks off the list does feel a bit weird but I wouldn't know who to replace him for. I might just bet on him getting in with a slightly less deep class later on.

This will be tough, I must check because I am not sure who made it in the 90 class
Bird - obvious king
McHale
Moses
Worthy
Isiah Thomas
are obvious locks
Then there's a group with Dantley, Cheeks, Eaton, Cooper, Sikma, English, Lambeer, Moncrief and I am sure many more once I will start checking
Pretty sure Moncrief, Dantley and Cheeks will finally get in, let's see the rest.

This is a tough class for me, I see 6 clear picks and then my ballot gets pretty muddled pretty fast.
Bird
Moses
McHale
Moncrief
Worthy
Thomas
After that... a lot of different directions to go.

Just saw this thread--too busy to post or browse these days.
Locks: Bird, Moses, Zeke, McHale. I think these are no brainers.
My next group I would throw a vote to with confidence is Moncrief, Cheeks, English, and Dantley.
I am teetering on Sikma--I really liked him as a player, and I think he is one of those players who would be better if he was brought up in the 2010's NBA.

My List:
Larry Bird
Moses Malone
Alex English
Isiah Thomas
Adrian Dantley
Kevin McHale
Sidney Moncrief
James Worthy
Larry Nance
Bernard King
I looked at Backpicks.com for the WOWY numbers for the guys I was considering for the next spots. Laimbeer and King surprised me being that high (I expected Nance), didn't expect Cheeks and Cooper to be that low and Walter Davis was really punked here. So Worthy and Nance also make my list, leaving the final spot between Jack Sikma, Bill Laimbeer, and Bernard King. I think I have to go with King here.

Re: REDOING THE NBA HALL OF FAME (retired in 1995 or earlier)
My tentative picks (can be used as my "official" ones if I don't come back and update). This is the first round where I'm not compromising my true desired 10 picks by omitting Walt Bellamy; for the first time since he became eligible there actually ARE >10 guys I'd rather vote for ahead of him.
The "locks":
Larry Bird (king of class, imo)
Moses Malone
Isiah Thomas
Kevin McHale
Alex English
Adrian Dantley
Sidney Moncrief
and Larry Nance is more or less a lock for me. Really underrated career, imo.
After that it gets pretty debatable between a three guys in particular, but I'll tentatively go with:
James Worthy
Maurice Cheeks
The super-close HM [who I could be convinced to bump one of Worthy/Cheeks for] is Jack Sikma.

You got 11 listed there, mate. It's the same top 11 candidates I got, but like me you'll have to decide on one to cut.

Why does Cheeks have a better case than say Laimbeer, or Sikma for the people leaving him out? He is a good player but in a strong class I’m not sure being the 3rd or 4th guy on the Sixers depending on the year is enough here.

Re: REDOING THE NBA HALL OF FAME (retired in 1995 or earlier)
Alright, it seems like one of the strongest classes (up to 1975 and 1990). Here are my locks:
Larry Bird - king of the class
Moses Malone - no need to explain that
Isiah Thomas - I'm not high on him, but he's clear choice here
Kevin McHale - amazing 2nd option on one of the best teams ever
Sidney Moncrief - some people are not convinced (probably due to weak longevity) but he was unreal player in his prime, he was also very important piece (often the best player) of strong Bucks team
Then I have players who are not locks anymore, but I'm comfortable with them:
Adrian Dantley - nice to see him getting the recognition, I was afraid that I'd have to defend him again
Alex English - very long period of excellence, can't finish this class without him
James Worthy - I love him as a player, but I consider him overrated a bit. Still, excellent resume and key part of late 1980s and early 1990s LAL success
Jack Sikma and Bill Laimbeer - I couldn't include one without the other
HMs:
Bernard King - excellent peak, but injuries destroyed his longevity. I prefer Dantley and English for high volume scorers.
Maurice Cheeks - he'd likely get in with weaker class, maybe next one?
Larry Nance - it's possible that I underrate him, another one that'd get in with weaker competition
Mark Eaton - with more longevity, I could see him over Laimbeer
Michael Cooper - I love him as a player, but lack of high minutes hurt him here
Lenny Wilkens - I believe he's comparable to Cheeks and still strong candidate.
