Kareem would wreck Robinson
KG would wreck 'Sheed
LeBron would wreck Ron, but Ron can match up as well as anyone
Klay would get his
CP3 was WAY better than Billups

Imo this is a lopsided contest, unless you think Jerry West would be just as good today as he was against 1966 level competition or your such a LeBron Stan you thought LAL was going to the finals before last season started

Ok since you don’t think West would be as good against today’s competition what if I switched out West for Prime Kobe. Who would you take then?

So the line-up would be

Chauncey Billups(‘07)
Kobe Bryant(‘08)
Lebron James(‘13)
Rasheed Wallace(‘02)
David Robinson(‘95)

I'll still take team Kareem. But, if that was the teams in the OP I would have avoided the thread because it's to close to guess.

Whatever dude the game is 1000% harder at the NBA level now than 50 years ago. Jerry West would see CP3 do a cross over and then stare at the ref waiting for the travel call us Paul blew right by him.

AND LOL at West is quick enough to stay in front of Paul. 2008 CP3 cannot be stayed in front of. 2008 CP3 is the peak of a top 5 PG of all time. Literally nobody could, ever can stay in front of him.

That's evidence enough right there your a homer for the old guys.

Go watch some Ron Artest defensive highlights. He'd block Jerry's slow self ever time.

It'd basically be like putting an AAU player against a DPOY.

The rules even called for stricter dribbling. If someone dribbled in 2020 by 1966 rules Ron Artest would pick their pocket every time.

There is some justification for assuming modern players are quicker and stronger because of modern weight training and equipment though not based on any genetic advantage. So, you are time machining this rather than assuming both teams grew up in to the era and are fully comfortable with the rules and techniques of the era and share equivalent training and equipment (and access to PEDs)?

So, based on this logic, if they played by 66 rules and using 66 refs, you don't think the modern players would be able to compete and would just turn the ball over every time?

And, if West was unable to function against modern players, why is Kareem?

I am assuming their was a time machine and every player meets and immediately starts playing a game by 2020 rules. OP didn't say give players time to adjust or anything like that.

If the game was by '66 rules I think team LeBron gets a HUGE advantage.

I don't think it affects Kareem as much because he's not a ball handler.

How’s anyone gonna score against team Kareem? LeBron will get some but overall they’ll get murdered. That team is impossible defensively.

Team Kareem for me. I think they stand a decent chance at cutting the LeBron head off the Team LeBron snake via their combo of rim-protection + KG's versatile switching wizardry + Artest's bullish man D. LeBron, in addition to being his team's lead playmaker, would by default have to be the go-to resilient halfcourt volume scorer on that team and if you can legitimately diminish his impact with the aforementioned defensive nightmare of Team Kareem then you've effectively put a significant dent in the entire Team LeBron team attack. On the other end I can still see Team Kareem getting theirs on the back of their overall balance both inside/out and CP3 being able to sufficiently orchestrate things with all the options at his disposal
