You get to sign one of these duos to max deals, where they remain in peak form over the course of their contracts. Who would you take and why? Assume you have to build the rest of your roster from scratch under normal CBA limitations.

Nikola Jokic/Anthony Davis
Kevin Durant/Andrei Kirilenko
Vince Carter/Jimmy Butler
Jason Kidd/Ray Allen

Jokic and AD are both centers but they could easily play together since they complement each others skillsets well. Whether it is Jokic at PG or AD at PF, with a talent combo like that you figure something out.

KD/AK for me. KD's the most one man offense here and the duo is the best defensive duo here.

Can't really see a case for the bottom two.

I'd probably go KD/AK as well since I can get peak AK for the length of his contract. Jokic-AD is nasty but doesn't give me quite as much flexibility in terms of building out the rest of the team.

How can anyone vote for Carter/Butler? They’re far and away the worst duo.

I disagree about "far and away the worst", perhaps because I value Butler more than most, but in hindsight I should have paired him with TMac instead of Vince. I would have given that duo my vote over KD/AK47.

It's close but I think Jokic/AD is actually my last choice. Definitely not as high on AD as others, but I do like his fit next to Jokic.

The case would be longevity-based (as we’re talking about building [presumably long-term] around them). But otherwise I generally agree: if we’re talking about just 1-3 seasons and/or “which duo is best?” [around their respective peaks], then I feel it’s gotta be one of the first two.

Durant/Andre. You d got playmaking/Scoring

Unpopular opinion but I'll take one off the best off ball scorers in Ray Allen and a great passer defender and triple double guy in Jason Kidd.
