Jury's still out on this one. I think Shamet has more untapped potential than Kennard. We'll see if he can unlock it or not though. Also Kennard has knee tendonitis issues that may or may not be a problem. Could turn out to be great for them or could look really bad if Shamet levels up and Kennard can't stay healthy.

Kennard also has a chronic injury too, right? Kinda like Kawhi

Yeah tendonitis tends to linger - never really goes away forever. Hard to prevent flare ups. I've had issues with it in my elbow for years.

So who's still left out there at C other than Gasol & Baynes?

EDIT: Found a list . . .

Biyombo
Mahinmi
Len
Chandler
Cauley-Stein
Noah
Zeller

On paper they're about the same, but if they fix the chemistry issues by Harrell and Doc leaving then yeah, they're better.

Lakers improved by a lot though. I think they only downgraded against certain match ups like Denver or Philly (superstar big men)

Are they the same?

Kennard is better than Shamet...if healthy. Clips do have pretty bad luck, so who knows.
But not like Shamet played a ton anyways

Ibaka>Trez come playoff time. Better shooter and defender

Loss of Green hurts their depth a bit, but Patterson is similar

Maybe lose Reggie Jackson? Not sure what will happen there

Is there really no market for Baynes? He was great last season before he got hurt.

Yeah, that all seems like a wash to me. I think whatever improvements they show is gonna be because of coaching and/or chemistry

Say it is a wash, the chemistry stuff is big too

We did improve though I believe

Man I wish we had kept Dwight and gotten Ibaka..

KCP, Wes, Lebron, AD, Ibaka,
Dennis, AC, THT?, Kuzma, Dwight

I really don't see how Kuzma fits too much, but he can play more min the games Lebron sits I guess?

Still some decent (realistic) options:

Guards:
Cook, Forbes (probably wants more than the min), Bazemore

SF:
Korver, Craig, Roberson

PF: Illyasova, Kieff

C: Gasol, Dedmon, Baynes

Ibaka for the same price as harrell, surprising

I had come around on the Harrell signing but Ibaka at the same price is just infuriating. How do the lakers not go for that first?

Some argument can be made about the second unit playing a bigger role in the RS (significant point that’s been overlooked) but still.

At least the CLippers haven’t really fixed their main weaknesses even if they did get better

He probably wanted to play with his old buddy Kawhi

Who knows what goes on behind the scenes

I am slightly coming around to the Trez signing a bit

Good for reg season, which lets Lebron coast a bit and sit some games. AD will probably also sit out some B2Bs
Good 2 man game with Dennis
I can even see a fit with AD even. The offense was pretty bad with just AD (in the reg season). Maybe a nice high low game or dump off passes between those 2

Worst case, we swing him by the deadline. He is on a very fair deal and we can easily find a suitor

The more I read about the Ibaka signing, the more it seems like he was always going to either stay with Toronto or join his former teammate Kawhi with the Clippers. I’m not sure he ever really considered going to the Lakers. It’s really the Kawhi situation all over again. Except this time Rob Pelinka didn’t bother waiting on the desired free agent’s decision when an intriguing alternative (Harrell) popped up as an option.

The lakers trolling he did last week was shady af lol

Ibaka would've fit on the Lakers much better then Trezz but it says a lot about this class that he was one of the best available guys on the market and was still a player that needed to be sat in a high-stakes playoff series lol

I mean our supporting guard/wing lineup of

Schroder/kcp/caruso/matthews/kuz

Is pretty solid, i dont think we need more there

Ibaka would have been better than harrell but im curious what the plan with harrell is, it has alot of upside

Green hurts their depth alot, he was a pretty solid guy, i think ibaka for harrell might make up for it, but shamet and kennard is prolly a wash

On the basis of talent harrell is legitimately a 15-20million a year player, but his fit kinda hard caps him offensively in a way. I think we should keep in mind as a roll man finisher and mismatch scorer hes among the best in the league, AD is the best ever at some of harrells strengths.

I think what it is, is that we see alot of defensive potential in harrell, it seems odd that hes not a better defender, i think he'll have a breakout defensive campaign

I see Markieff and Ibaka as a wash really. Serge is relied upon for more but the things they would add to the Lakers would be about the same in my view.

Until they improve playmaking I can't see how the Clips are better.

Shamet, Green and Harrell for Kennard and Ibaka is worse.

They have a BAE left for a PG right?

Ibaka would have fit nice into this lineup. Assume he wanted the clippers

Serge was the obvious pickup for the clips but I really don't know where they will get that playmaker need

the Bogdan silence has been weird but I doubt LA has the assets

Clips are like 3.7m under the hard cap and have 12 man roster. They can use BAE on one more player but then they are hard capped.

So unless they get a playmaker for BAE it looks like the playmaker comes through via trade.

What point guards are even left that are a true pg?

And if you are hard capped, can you sign guys after buyouts, or no?

No you can't go over the hard cap. I would say it's likely the Clips make a trade.
