Nate Duncan sucks. It's one thing to have a terrible take like this, but no one cuts him any slack because of his absurd arrogance based on nothing.

I actually think this is the toughest year in recent history than I can remember choosing the bench players... Mainly in the East i feel a bunch of guys can make it. In the West its a smaller crop but id still feel bad leaving a few guys off

Cant remember the last time i felt that way. Usually its like 1 snub that i wish couldve gotten in but not this many

First a shoutout to the superstar roleplayer: Batum, O'Neale, Joe Harris

West:
Lillard
Doncic
Kawhi
LeBron
Jokic

Curry
Conley
CP3
George
Zion
Davis
Gobert

Not sure I meet the roster requirements, Mitchell/Murray vs CP3 most interesting, went for the Suns getting someone on the roster. Zion not super strong, but felt I needed another forward. Kind of wanted to get a Spur on the roster, but didn't think anyone had stood out quite enough.

East:
VanVleet
Harden
Durant
Giannis
Embiid

Young
Kyrie
Simmons
Tatum
Grant
Randle
Turner

Tobias, Middleton, Brown, Bam, Hayward among the tougher cuts.

Too often it seems NBA media guys don't even love the game. We talk often about the TNT show crew not paying attention to the current league and hating on the players, but this is just as bad. Like basketball is ultimately a game and it's supposed to be fun, and these guys just don't seem to like the game.

some of them don't. We even have a notable poster on here who acknowledges he just enjoys the math and analytics of the game and doesn't care much for the actual sport.

Nate's problem is he's convinced himself he's smarter than everyone and that he's too cool for everything and everyone. I don't know how anyone listens to his product. He constantly talks over his guests, he belittles Danny and cuts him off at every turn.

Which sucks because he got his start just by being a dude who watched a bunch of games and wanted to talk about it. But man did a little success go to his head.

You can be a numbers guy like our own drza or ElGee and still love the game. And that's part of why they've had success. You can be incredibly smart and data-driven and like basketball and be a chill dude.

I mean, can one not be of the opinion that it was a sick dunk and also that Edwards has a bad game at the same time? Or is just wrong to publicly point that out in the same sentiment because ethics? It's also this dude personal Twitter, which no one is forced to follow... It would be another thing if the dude went on live TV screaming that...

Soft.

Damn not even an honorable mention for Beal even with Trae on the team??

Nate Duncan definitely loves the game and knows what he’s talking about a lot of the time.

That being said he is definitely one of the most arrogant analysts out there and the timing of the tweet was just dumb. It’s one thing to tweet about the progress of Edward’s game and there have been tons of tweets about his struggles that haven’t gotten any attention. Nate obviously felt like being the Debbie downer while NBA Twitter was enjoying a spectacular play. He knew exactly what he was doing and rightfully got called out for it.

A lot of NBA media is former players yelling at clouds or in the weeds analysts raving about plus-minus and being snarky.

I do think there are some really good media guys who blend smart analysis with a genuine enthusiasm for the game like Zach Lowe or Kevin Arnovitz.

Edwards has actually been a bit better of late too. We're watching guys put a ball through a hoop, sometimes you can just enjoy it and it's amazing people will go out of their way to try to not enjoy it. He did get clowned for the tweet by both analytics and non-analytics folks alike, because ultimately most out there do enjoy the fun of it too.

Clown shoes tweet.

Also:

https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/game_score.html

This game ended up 18th all time in game score, and he's now averaging by quick math over 44 points/100 on 66% TS vs other top 15 defenses. Along with his defensive presence.

The Nate Duncan take has nothing to do with Edwards performance. He was adamant that the Wolves should have taken Ball instead of Edwards and this is just an extension of that.

Its basically "STOP ENJOYING THIS EDWARDS PLAY HE ISNT GOOD I WAS RIGHT I WAS RIGHT" which is the lamest part of NBA twitter .

If you wanted to give Beal an HM it'd be fine. But Young's been considerably more impressive imo (results wise, I don't like the style much).

It's not an ethics thing. A post like that points to someone who doesn't enjoy watching basketball. It was an amazing play on its own. Just leave it be and criticize edwards all you want the next day. Countless people who are extremely analytics driven thought his post was awful.

Posting that a rookie is being awful with or without statistics, while acknowledging one single good play, does not equal hating watching basketball

I'm stealing this take from Dan Devine, and I say this as someone who really likes analytics but cool dunks are fun and give me more of them please.

Edit: And it feels like this statement shouldn't ever be necessary but here we are.

Cousins on the market again, anywhere that needs him? He/Harden didn't seem to be on great terms, so I'm not sure on Nets though they certainly need bigs. Lakers/Clippers/Sixers don't make much sense to me. Boston? Back to GS?

Edit: When does Nurkic come back? Could see that.

Think he's fallen off pretty hard, can't see him playing heavy minutes but hope he finds somewhere and can do well for himself. From the Athletic's reporting he was well liked in the locker room and a vet presence type it seemed like, just lost athleticism.
