Energy good in Milwaukee though, Nets look a bit out of sorts.

that is the thingh, he is not helping in defense against the nets, they have too much shooting against drop coverage

meanwhile in offense if he is supposed to be a shooter you are better off using Forbes, and if you are gonna use him inside that ruins the lane for giannis

he may be a scoring bench option when giannis sits but giannis shouldnt soy more than 8 minutes a game any way, budenholzer should pull a vogel

vogel realized after 1 game that howard and Mcgee were a weakness vs rockets and stopped playing him that series. and thst was the right choice

Giannis taking 3s with so much time on the shot clock is driving me nuts.

Does he realise how many of those he'd have to make for it to change the way they guard him? :noway:

Chris Paul is obviously really good at minimizing turnovers, but I think people are making too big of a deal of the zero turnovers thing. In game 2, the announcers were talking about him not having any turnovers during some particular stretch, and literally right then, someone poked the ball out away from him from behind, and it pinballed around between multiple players and bounced back to him in the paint, and he made one of his midrange shots. It was a total fluke that he got it back and it wasn't a turnover.

For a guy who handles the ball as much as he does, I'm not sure that zero turnovers on the regular is a good thing. Is he only making safe passes? Is he not willing to take chances because he doesn't want turnovers? It's all good as long as they're winning, but Denver has looked as soft as a marshmallow so far, and it will get tougher in future rounds.

Just an observation and speculation.

I mean yes - but by that notion any big time scoring game is also a fluke. Damian Lillard doesn't normally score 55 points, but it's still impressive.

At the end of the day, if what you said counted as a turnover he would have had 15 assist on 1 turn over. So is it really worth mentioning?

for your second paragraph, it's very much a good thing to not have turnovers. The team he is on has the 2nd best record in the league and they're on path for the WCF, so I'd say he's not playing it too safe. They're a good offensive team.

I think the idea that Chris Paul plays too safe kind of undermines his playstyle. This is a player who regularly dribbles in the paint, and hits passes in between opposing defenders. He's also a player who scores a high amount of his shots on mid range jumpers which are supposed to be the unsafest shot in basketball. CP3 hitting a bounce pass into the paint is considered safe play, but someone like Harden who regularly gets assist by kicking it out to wide open corner 3s is a risk taker.

It would seem like to me that instead of seeing a highly efficient player with low PPG, high APG on low turnovers - people will conclude he must be playing it safe instead of concluding that perhaps he's just very good.

people judge cp3 on style rather than results for some reason since his results dont show the limited offense people talk about with him

It was just an observation. I suppose I could've included other observations, such as all of last season and this season being the most impressive of his career from a leadership perspective, or that I have him significantly higher in the POY rankings than his stats and advanced metrics would suggest.

It wasn't my intent to throw mud on the man, though I see that it may have come across that way. Mostly, I just thought the pinball turnover-turned-into-assist-to-himself was funny as hell considering what the announcers were saying at the time.

You can't stop the Mike James-Bruce Brown pick-and-roll, you can only hope to contain it.

Bruce Brown is cooking Lopez on simple floaters. This just isn't the series for him. If he can't guard the rim in drop coverage, what's the point?

i still dont see why lopez plays so much against nets

i really dont think this is his matchup

edit: even the spanish tv commentators in my Broadcast are saying it and these guys usually dont talk táctics beyond "they need to start getting stops/shots"

After the initial burst, the Bucks look disorganised as ever offensively.

Giannis needs to be forbidden from taking 3s unless it's at the buzzer. Just inexcusable shot selection when he's getting to the rim so easily.

I can't help but thinking how had they just kept their mouth shut this Bucks team would have Bogdan out there and their offense would flow so, so much better. That mistake probably costs Bud his job and might have cost the Bucks the title.

And the Hawks certainly aren't playing in the 2nd round because they wouldn't have drawn the Knicks without him.

What an absolute disaster. They had a perfect plan and completely mucked it up in the stupidest possible way.

Im starting to wonder if Giannis shot selection and lack of minutes played has to do with conditioning issues. Hes put on A TON of muscle over the past few years. I remember in the Toronto series he was gassing hard midway specially after the Ot game 3. I think he has too much muscle right now and cant play a full drive game a whole game and go for 40+ minutes when needed

It's even more startling with the Bucs having given up all those assets for Jrue and he looks little different from Bledsoe out there.

the way they are playing this series i think they are further away from the title than bogdanovic

this is just a baffling series they are playing. their stars are playing bad, their rotations are not working yet they dont change them at all (great job bud?), etc

just a disaster so far. if nets didnt randomly go 11 points in a quarter they would be in the way to a 0-3 deficit right now

There's probably something to this. I can't of anyone else Giannis' size that's game was so reliant on transition and driving to the basket.
