Guess how many times had Oscar Robertson dunked?

Oscar was one of the most athletic players of his era and a triple double machine. 12x all star and 11x all-nba. Please do not google and give you best guess - how many times had Oscar Robertson dunked in the nba over his 14 years?

I know what Oscar said in the interview, but we don't have a single game from his most athletic seasons so it can't be proved that he never dunked the ball.

For what it's worth, we do have a clip of him dunking the ball in practise.

That you imply it is known (and google-able) gives away what you consider the answer to be, that sort of stat wasn't tracked and there isn't full footage from every Royals game so it has to be from someone presumably Oscar saying zero. This aligns with the idea that for some time it wasn't considered the done thing.

Whether he actually never did it ... it's possible but self-reported stats would have to come with a significant asterisk.

I think its partly from Oscar saying he dunked during a playground game when he was either in hs or college and someone getting all mad and pushing or trying to get hurt him and that after that he decided it wasn't worth the trouble so stopped trying to dunk during games. It probably helped him durability wise to play mostly below the rim in the long run.

There is no doubt that he was capable of dunking. It is likely he never dunked. He did not have the reason to bring it up if untrue. If he only dunked a few times, he should remember and people being dunked on should remember. We do not have video or players he played with/against to say otherwise.

He never dunked in game per him as he he tried it one time at a park I believe and he was pushed mid air into the post and shattered his teeth.

Dunking throughout the 60s was seen as "hot dogging" and almost like a taunt.

Dunking was ungentlemanly back then. You have to remember that there were no break away rims (spring loaded). You could bend the rim.

And just in case any child comes here thinking Oscar couldn’t dunk or wasn’t the athlete todays players are...know this, he was the forerunner of LeBron. A 6’5’’ version 30 years earlier playing under different rules. If he wanted to and it was customary he’d dunk on the head of most modern players. Show some respect in this thread.
