subjectively as in who thw fan base itself chooses is probably giannis for most fans , loyalty or at least staying in a franchise goes a long way (also recency bias*)

objectively as in who was the better player/added mpre cumnulative value/accomplished more thinghs is kareem

if giannis is healthy and makes milwaukee a great team for another 4 or 5 years at least the longevity difference will give him the more valuable bucks career "objectively" speaking

when is all said and done it probably will be a wade vs lebron thingh, where lebron was the better player but wade is by far the most beloved by the franchise amd considered the franchise goat

Why would Giannis offer more sentimental value? What you're saying doesn't even make sense unless we're assuming everyone here is a Bucks fan. sentimental value definitely matters for a fan base, if you look at who is considered every team goat by its fans and general peopke it is not necesarrily the best player

most okc fans will pick westbrook over durant without a thought for example

or lowry over vince Carter without a second thought (and it would be the case even without the 2019 ring)

i dunno, this is a question that i tend to think more of in subjective terms rather than absolute value/impact provided (which i do for player rankings ) as "goat" is itself a more vague term than "best" or "most value added"

The question was pretty straight forward. Who thus far had the goat Buck career, why would people vote with the assumption that Giannis stays longer? He very well may and that can add "sentimental value" but it seems like a totally different question and answer to me.

Looks like I'm the first actual Bucks fan to chime in here. The OP said it's not ranking them as GOATs, it's the best Buck all time and Giannis just passed Kareem this year and it's not even in question.

Kareem won one championship with the team, played 6 seasons and demanded a trade out of town. Giannis now has won the city just as many championships and stuck it out through some very poor seasons and actually committed to the city before he even won a championship instead of just bailing. He's currently on contract through the end of the 2025 season and even if he left after that he'd have spent 12 years here to Kareem's 6. Could he demand a trade for some reason before then? Sure, but it's hard to envision a scenario that leads to that, and even if it happened it's very likely still Giannis.
