I think you can make a case either way. Beside the names that would immediately come to mind, you have to mention Amar'e, Bosh, Towns.

His scoring doesn't look special on the surface, but factoring in that he played in a balanced offense and didn't get to dominate the ball every night and was as skilled or more than anybody from his era and super-efficient, KAT's forefather, Brad Daugherty.

This should tell you something about how great a scorer he is.

Embiid has never averaged 30+ PTS over a 10 game span in the playoffs. Here are some of these players averages over a 10 game span in the playoffs:

Hakeem 35/12/5/2/3 | 53% FG
Wilt 37/26/3 | 47% FG
Shaq 35/17/2 | 57% FG
Kareem 36/16/5 | 59% FG

Kareem,Shaq,McAdoo,Mikan were better; also, Ewing,Wilt,Lanier,Cousins arguably. Top 5 likely, top 10 at worst.

I think Top 5 among centers is a non-starter.

Top 10 any position is a "back away from the drugs" type situation.

Peak top 5 among C:
Hakeem/Wilt/Shaq/Kareem/Robinson. if you expand prime to include Sabonis he is there too.

Also, Factor in Embiid plays in an era with 0 realy bigs. he is going against a 6'9" guy most nights. He is already not so durable, baning with 7 foot 270 pound guys every night probably doesnt help that.

I'd definitely take Kareem and Shaq over him. Wilt too and for now I'd give Hakeem edge because of postseason play. If we're talking about peaks, then Moses peaked higher than Embiid as well. Then you have arguable names like McAdoo, Lanier, Robinson, Jokic. So top 10 is a lock basically, top 5 is harder but maybe?

I'd put Shaq, Kareem, Wilt and McAdoo definitely ahead, and Hakeem while regular season is an argument, proved himself at a high level in playoffs. Others with decent case

Robinson - bigger regular season peak (1st in PPG) but dropped in playoffs
Moses - probably peaked slightly higher for his era in scoring
Jokic - amazing efficiency
Amare - crazy PNR skillset
Towns - Depends whether you want to include floor stretch value as "scoring"
Ewing - peak numbers similar to Embiid in harder center era
Neil Johnston - great numbers for his era

Not sure I'd have Embiid top 10 looking at that list

Charles Barkley, Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stouidmire, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale are all shnasty power forwards. They're bigs, are they not?

Who the hell voted top 3 here? He hasn't shown nearly enough to be put ahead of Shaq, Kareem, Wilt, Dirk, or Barkley at the very least. I doubt he's even a better scorer than Jokic.

it probably tells more about the power of getting hot from 3 than anythingh else, 4 of those guys are 3 point heavy guys in the 3 point ball era

embiid benefits from that but just indirectly as he doesnt take many 3's

Joel I don’t think he is in the top 3-4 YET! I think by the end of his career he will be known as one of the best scorers PERIOD. Joel is now going on season number 2 averaging 28+ Hakeem’s highest regular season ppg was in the 27 range. I think the only centers better in the history of the game are Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, And D-Rob.
