Where do you think Peak Price would rank in today’s league?

Tough to say, probably at his absolute best around Lillard level? I'm not sure how his playmaking translates to modern era and his defense would probably be also a bit worse (though likely still better than Lillard or Trae).

Nobody split the pick-and-roll like Mark Price did. He made it an artform.

Don't see any players today do it anywhere near as often as he did.

I think Trae and Lillard are both in that top q5 range.

are the top 9, and then the wildcard might be a Donovan Mitchell, who I am higher on than most. Maybe playing today changes things, but I simply think Price is easier to take out of the flow of games than Mitchell. I guess you could slot Price in at exactly #10, but I think others have stronger arguments.

I get it, if you take everyone at full health then top 15 is fair choice. Of course I don't take into account guys who don't play this season like Kawhi or even Davis (for now, if he continiues to play that will change).

That John Wall level where on a really good season, definitely an MVP candidate, but for most of his career not one of the top point guards in the NBA just because we a couple of all-time guys ahead of him.

I think John Wall at his best wasn't anywhere close to being an mvp candidate. He was all nba 3rd team once. Price at his peak made all nba 1st team. Even then I don't think Price could be a real mvp candidate. I think he could make some all nba teams though. Be it 2nd or 3rd team and be considered a great player. I say this as someone who saw a lot of Price. Probably as much or more than anyone who posts on this site.

Price played 12 years in the league. In only half those seasons did he play even 2000 minutes.

But in those 6 seasons (1986-87 to 1988-89, 1991-92 to 1993-94) he was absolutely a top 5 PG in the league and arguably top 3. Those 6 years he played the 8th most minutes among PGs but scored the 2nd most points and threw for the 7th most assists, all while being the best shooting PG (52% on 2s, 42% on 3s, 91% FT%). He was also the best high volume 3pt shooter among PGs.

I think the only PGs better than him overall during those 6 seasons were Magic Johnson and John Stockton. After that one could argue who was better than Price with PGs like Terry Porter, Derek Harper, Kevin Johnson, and Fat Lever. But it'd be a close call.

I think if he was able to play more minutes he'd be in the conversation for HOF. He never played as much as even 2800 minutes in a single season and only 3 times played as much as 2500 minutes.
