This is not best 6 year stretch, just the best 6 years combined.

shaq and i'm not sure it's close.

duncan and hakeem are harder to judge because so much of their greatness was predicated on defense and defensive metrics are fewer and much more suspect. for example, i'm fine if somebody wants to argue hakeem or duncan is better than shaq, but that would be based more on personal opinion, bias and memory than objective numbers.

You know that we don't have to use memory in this case in 2022, right? We can watch games multiple times and take notes.

There are plenty of objective measurements for Defense.

Yea, I’m also going with Shaq and not close. To me, he’s the most dominant since Wilt.

I see no argument for Hakeem over 6 years.

My ranking is:
Shaq: 95, 98, 00, 01, 02, 05
Bird: 81, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87
Duncan: 99, 02, 03, 04, 05, 07
Magic: 85, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91
Hakeem: 86, 89, 92, 93, 94, 95

Well, I do that and I know at least a few other posters who do that as well.

Looks like I'm alone in this one but I actually think this is Bird. His 3 year MVP stretch of 84-86 along with weaker defensive but arguably even better offensive years in 87 and 88 along with either 81 or 83 looks better to me than what the other options have to offer. Shaq is close though.

1. Hakeem(88, 89, 90, 93, 94, 95)
2. Shaq(95, 99, 00, 01, 02, 03)
3. Duncan(01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 07)
4. Magic(85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90)
5. Bird(81, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88)

Bird feels clearly last to me. He was great in the playoffs in 84, and 86 but the rest of the years it seems like a mixed bag of merely good and mediocre. The rest of the guys I think you can point to at least 4 or 5 great playoff showings. When i say "great" I mean sort of what you'd expect from a guy who's commonly placed in the top 10 ever.

Hakeem: 86, 89, 92, 93, 94, 95

I see no argument for 98 Shaq over 99 Shaq based on missed games alone. 03 is also clearly better than 05. The playoff gap is just massive.

This is as close as I expected it, I'd give all 97-98 roughly considered MJ a 100
