Please rank on average prime level for offense, longevity shouldn’t be considered much if any.

no, it is not

Sure it is. To paraphrase a famous Paul Pierce saying... "Wade ain't no Kobe". This section of the forum has become a joke where it has become a possibility to suggest that Wade was better on offense or that they were on the same level... when even players will tell you that Kobe was the most skilled player ever, thus far in the NBA's history at least... and they aren't saying it just to be polite to someone who has passed away but have always said it. I suppose you guys know better than those who had to guard each guy though, lol.

more skilled is not the same as better

Kobe may be better than wade, the gap would still be nowhere close to jordan vs drexler unless you mean with longevity accounted for

Okay, I'll make it simple... Kobe was more skilled and better... both! And had better longevity on top of that too.

Kobe > T-Mac (peak) > Iverson > Wade > Vince... that's a nice gap between #1 and #4.

While we're on the subject of longevity, I think it's strange that Wade always gets a pass for his knee troubles while everyone forgets the many injuries and set backs that Kobe played with and through.

I meant on offense there. Not as overall players, where Wade has the size and defensive advantage over Iverson.

Anyway, regarding the Kobe-Wade thing... I'll just add that there are a few defensive players who played in the 90s and the 2000s while at their physical peak. They all say the same thing, i.e., the hardest to defend was in this order: MJ, Kobe, Lebron. No mention of Wade because he's lumped into a group along with T-Mac, Vince, Iverson, Drexler, etc. So I don't know what more you want... Kobe scored more and could do more things with the ball because he had better footwork, better handles and better shooting, and won more titles while playing in a more aesthetically pleasing manner, and the game's best defensive players say he was better and harder to guard... yet there is a small population on RealGM who thinks they know better. It's maddening having to discuss this. I think it might be because the "experts" here highly discount the array of skills and aesthetically pleasing manner of the two most gifted individuals (MJ and Kobe) we've seen... because those guys made what they did look so easy. Well, they don't do it with Mike so much because they know that would be extremely foolish (although some are trying to put Lebron over him, lol)... but they do it a lot with Kobe because "we've already seen it with MJ".

Another thing... I think that some of you have created this fake equivalence between Kobe and Wade to help y'all wrongfully put Timmy Duncan over Kobe in your Top-10 lists. The comparison is and should be MJ : Kobe, Wade : Drexler, and Hakeem : Duncan. It's also why they still go on with the "best PF of all-time" thing, to prevent Timmy from being compared to Hakeem, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq because he's behind all of them as Centers. That's how it appears to me at least, I mean when it comes to their motives, from reading all their different posts in the different threads.

He also found time to take another shot on Duncan, there is no reason to discuss him :banghead:

Pretty much all wing contemporaries of Kobe say that the most difficult player to guard was... *drumroll* Manu Ginóbili. Guess he's better than Kobe too

I agree with your order btw, but it's very close.

Kobe
Durant
Harden
Wade

Harden was a tier above player over all, offensively. Durant is/was the best of the rest three. Then Kobe and Wade a good comparison, offensively. Wade had higher load he was a 31/32 and 7/8 points and assists a game player at his peak, but Kobe was more efficient offensive player, specially on some big series'. It's controversial, I figure. 06,08 and 09 Kobe might be better than Wade, but also 09 and 10 Wade might, too. They were probably around the same area, offensively.

I would invite you to visit these 2 pages on Basketball-Reference.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wadedw01.html
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/drexlcl01.html

The website has a nifty feature where you can visit a section of the player's page (such as Per Game, Total, Per 36, Per 100, Advanced, etc)... click on the row for a season to select the start of a period... then click on the row for another year further down the list... to get an average of the player's stats for that time period. It really is very handy. I recommend doing this for Dwyane Wade and Clyde Drexler from ages 22 to 34... giving us a nice period of 12 prime years to compare. You will see that they are almost exactly the same. In fact, Drexler's are better than Wade's in some important categories. Overall, I do not feel that it is incorrect to call Dwyane Wade the Clyde Drexler of the 2000s, with Kobe being the MJ of the 2000s, of course.

If you like, you could then do Kobe vs D Wade, also from when they were 22 years old up to when they were 34. I think it is safe to say that both were done at the top level at age 34.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bryanko01.html

I hope you will post your findings and your conclusions here, especially about the offense.

I think this is more interesting...

Here are the regular season stats of Clyde Drexler (1984-85 to 1996-97) and Dwyane Wade (2003-04 to 2015-16) from when they were both 22-34 years old.

Dwyane Wade: 23.7 PPG, 5.8 AST, 4.8 REB, 1.7 STL, 0.9 BLK, 77.0 FT%, 50.1 EFG%
Drexler Clyde: 21.7 PPG, 6.0 AST, 6.5 REB, 2.1 STL, 0.7 BLK, 78.9 FT%, 49.8 EFG%

It's like they are stat-twins!! Even though Drexler played in a less free-flowing era with no hand-checking.

Clyde does edge Wade out with the advanced stats though. :o

Dwyane Wade: 110 ORTG, 104 DRTG, 72.7 OWS, 41.1 DWS, 17.9% WS/48, 4.8 OBPM, 0.9 DBPM, 5.7 BPM, 59.1 VORP
Drexler Clyde: 115 ORTG, 105 DRTG, 80.0 OWS, 46.2 DWS, 18.0% WS/48, 4.4 OBPM, 1.4 DBPM, 5.8 BPM, 66.0 VORP

I've highlighted the better advanced stats in green.

And yes, I listed Drexler's name out that way (last name first) to create even more visual similarity. :P
