Moses replaces Shaq on 2000-04 Lakers - How many do they win

Post#1 » by migya » Wed Mar 9, 2022 9:35 am

Suppose Moses came into the nba at same age Shaq did, 20, in 1993, replaces Shaq on Lakers 2000-04.

How many championships would they win?

How would they perform anyway? ie. Finals some of the years, fist round exit?

Would Moses have gotten as n mvps?

He was still very good, 24pts, 12reb, when he was 31 and even 33.........

Interesting that Shaq's peak in 2000, he was 27, Moses was 27 in 1983, arguably his peak. Moses was a monster himself. Likely Lakers win the same sort of way.

I like Moses, but there’s no way. It took every single ounce of Shaq’s dominance to carry that Lakers team past the Blazers. Even Lakers players thought it might be over. In 2000, there’s no way.

In 01? I guess they still win.

02? Kings win. Even prime Shaq needed help from the refs, and Moses wouldn’t have been enough.

You need to remember that Moses was a very active and full effort player, more than Shaq was. Moses would bully his way but also could shoot and his offensive rebounding was insane. It changes the game.

So 1982-1986 Moses on the 2000-2004 Lakers?

2000- I say they lose in either the 2nd or 3rd round depending on seeding an matchups. The Blazers would definitely beat them Moses isn't going to push Sheed, Sabonis and them other guys around under the rim. Also, I'm not sure whether they even beat the Suns or Jazz that year. Those were all 50+ win teams who were not pushovers.

2001- I don't see anyone beating them this year. I'm not so sure how well Moses does against a Drob/Duncan frontcourt, but it wouldn't matter since Kobe is still going to go off on them and the series wasn't even close at all. They still win it all, but they lose more games than with Shaq.

2002- They lose to the Kings, plain and simple probably in 5 games honestly.

2003- I think they get even worse here, probably barely make the playoffs and lose in the 1st round to Kings/Spurs/Dallas.

2004- Even if we assume that Moses doesn't get injured, I'm not positive they even get out of the west.

I think 2001 is the only title that the Lakers would win with Moses.

2000 is a definite no. I don't think no big man in history could replace Shaq on the 2000 Lakers with them still winning.

Moses seems like a guy who is not as hungry after winning a ring. Combined with how the Lakers should've lost to the Kings anyways, I say they win in 01 only.
