If they still had Gilmore?
What kind of duo would Jordan and Gilmore have been if they played together up until 88 when Artis retired? Maybe Artis stays another year in 89 and retires at 40 with Cartwright backing him up which would make the bulls bench better.
Gilmore played with both Jordan and Bird in the same season.

was gilmore still a star level center at that age? doesnt seem like he was tbh
i guess he would have upgraded bulls defense a fair bit but i doubt they would become contenders
and if it leads to not drafting pippen it may stop the whole bulls dinasty from happening

Re: How good would the bulls have been in Jordans rookie season...
Gilmore was still quite good in 1985, but I'm not sure he would turn them into contenders. He slowed down noticeably on defensive end and on offense he was basically a GOAT finisher (including in the post) at this point with little else.
Still, a big upgrade over what they actually had. I think he was low all-star level in this season, his proruction is actually quite impressive for his age and he didn't look like a liability on defense in games I have. If anyone wants to watch some 1984/85 Spurs games, I can provide them in this thread.
