The Archive - huge NBA project we have to know more about

Post#1 » by 70sFan » Wed Mar 30, 2022 7:52 pm

Hi!

Today I found the article from the end of last year about NBA efforts to create a massive digital archive that contains all the possible games from all NBA seasons. You can read the article here:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/nba-video-records-bunker-11639632052

In the article, it is said that the NBA already created online platform for reaching out footage you'd like to see. I tried to find it today and I actually found their site:

https://archive.nba.com/

Unfortunately, we can't have the access to this site for now. I think we have to make an effort to show NBA that we care about such stuff. If you have any NBA fans among your friends, I would like you to share this information.

I sent it to Ben, we'll see what he thinks about it.

I also asked Todd Spher, who works with the NBA during the 75th anniversary season.

I have known about this project for a while as when I made some phone calls to upper management in the NBA archives and NBA offices.

About's obtaining all of Wilt's footage out of the archives.

So it could help me with my book about his Laker years

They in response kindly sent me a complete list of the games they have of him locked away.

Furthermore, I know Russell himself has recently given some people access to his footage in the NBA archives.

As he wants to make his own personal documentary about his career.
Reggie Jackson is amazing and a killer in the clutch that's all.

Cool stuff and good luck with your book! Make sure to let everyone know when people can start ordering it.

Never mind about the players - this is going to be an absolute treasure trove of old Clippers games with Ralph and Bill if the NBA has the good sense to open the vaults. Younger fans will get to see the greatest broadcasting duo to ever do it.
