is generally accepted that the best centers impact defense more than the best defensive wings and these more than the best defensive guards
but how does it work trying to put numbers/range on it?
is the defense of peak defense kawhi comparable to which tier of defensive bigs? is the defense of peak nate Mcmillan/tony allen comparable to which wings and which centers?
and a interesting question, lets say that the average guard defense la worth "0" and the average big is worth "3" is a defensive guard worth 2 defense points better than a big worth 4 points since he is more valuable relative to position ?

This calls for serious analysis of tracking stats and is way over my head. I would bet that the NBA pays stat analysts good money to make this kind of call though.

There are less elite interior defenders so that's more valuable just because it's more scarce.
I think the better question is what is more impactful and I think that's perimeter but more of a combination of the 2. A guy who can float around the floor and defend both and command the defense.
