I dont see the similarities. I don't see the great mid range or mid post game. or the finishing at the rim among bigs.

love poole, excellent player, i dont see the comparison in their games though

Kyrie has arguably the greatest handles in NBA history to go along with an all-time great ability to finish around the rim. Kyrie can beat every player in the NBA off the dribble and get his shot anywhere on the floor.

I don't see any similarities.

Jordan Poole is Jordan Clarkson with a much better team around him. 20-21 Clarkson and 21-22 Poole are carbon copies of each other.

Kinda surprised people don't like the comparison, I see so much Kyrie in Poole

Not just the crazy shot making, but the fluidity of his dribbling and body control, the way he can change directions, all gives me shades of Kyrie

Not only is Poole the more efficient scorer, he is also the more willing play maker. Just a better composure. As a result, Clarkson maxed out as a bench scorer, while Poole will likely be a lead guard soon (he already played that role in Curry's absence).

Clarkson isn't asked to playmake so of course his ast% isn't going to be as high. Clarkson also spent only 451 minutes on the floor without Mitchell (8.2ast/100) and Conley (9.7ast/100) and had 6.5ast/100.

If you look at potential assists per 100 passes
20-21 Clarkson - 19.72
21-22 Poole - 16.7

If you go back to his LAL days you can find multiple seasons of > 20 ast% so there's no reason to think he couldn't do it. If I run the query for 17-18 Clarkson and 21-22 Poole the playmaking numbers are basically the same.

I see the vision.

I can see it in a way, but it's so broad it basically comes down to "shifty ballhandler who can shoot and finish."

I don't think we'll see another Kyrie, because his game is based on a lot of midrange shots, midrange isolation moves and crossovers that come from an era where people didn't just try to get all the way to the rim or shoot a three or get fouled. Kyrie is taking 15-19-foot fadeaways over 6'1-6'8" defenders regularly. He uses the bank shot a lot. He's got a post game...AND he's an elite three-point shooter out to 32 feet. He's got all sorts of incredibly subtle, almost imperceptible micro moves.

So just from a playstyle standpoint, Poole has quite a bit different from Kyrie. Then also, even though people try to put it down, Kyrie has a really high IQ and rarely makes bad mistakes with the ball. He's a combo guard, but he can credibly, and even at an above average level, run an offense. He also makes a lot of little Kyle Lowry-esque (but to a lesser extent) plays like timely defensive stops, great rebounds, just all-around high IQ plays.

If you want to compare Kyrie to any player in history, just look at 2006-2008 Kobe. Good, but not blazingly fast first step, uses a lot of angles and incredibly body control and knowledge of angles and footwork to create angles to score. Incredibly nuanced movements. Very tight handle with amazing creativity with the ball, GOAT-level gathering moves. Heavy use of midrange. Difference was that Kobe was 3 inches taller, more durable and jumped about 6 inches higher, so he was able to be a more forceful player who could get to the line more because of his above the rim ability, and that helped his defense too. Kyrie is a much better jump shooter than Kobe, though. If Kyrie were 6'5," he'd basically be a less durable, less bouncy, but possibly as good version of 2006-2008 Kobe. I don't see that with Poole.

Poole reminds me more of Jordan Clarkson

I really like his shiftiness and shot making , ball handling , underrated passer as well
