Anyone want to correlate championships for the yearly leader in: Points/game, Rebounds/game, Assists/game, Blocks/game, Steals/game?

For points per game only Jordan,6 times and Shaq in 2000 won the scoring title and title in the same year since at least 1980

For assist per game,I know for LeBron in 2020...maybe also magic a few time?

Kareem won the title in 1971 when he led the league in scoring. George Mikan won both in 1950 as well.

Bob Cousy led the league in assists for the 57, 59 and 60 Celtics. In 59, Russell also led the league in rebounding. He later led the league in rebounding during the 64 and 65 titles. Wilt led the league in rebounding for the 67 Philly title.

In the 70s, Kareem led the league in points for the 71 title Bucks. Wilt led the league in rebounding for the 72 Lakers title team. Rick Barry led the league in steals for the 75 title Warriors.

In the 80s, a Big 5 stat leader only won the title twice. In 1980, Kareem led the league in blocks, and in 1987, Magic led the league in assists. Both were part of Lakers title teams.

In the 90s, it happened 6 times over 7 categories. Jordan led the league in points for all 6 of his titles, and also led the league in steals in 93.

In 2000, Shaq led the league in points for the title Lakers. It otherwise didn't happen in the 2000s.

In the 2010s, Curry led the league in steals during the 2015 title run.

Lebron led the league in assists in 2020.

This year, all the league leaders in raw totals are out.

Thank you!

So, totaling these:
The leading scorer has won 8 titles (6 of them Jordan)
The leading rebounder has won 7 titles (3 Russell, 2 Wilt)
The leader in assists has won 5 titles (3 Cousy)
The leader in blocks has won only 1 title (didn't keep track before 1974 or Russell/Wilt probably would add some more)
The leader in steals has won 3 titles (3 different people and again, league didn't keep records before 1974)

He actually led the league in steals in 2016 but he did lead the NBA in total steals in 2015.

A name that strangely enough has not been mentioned yet: Dennis Rodman reeled off three straight rebounding titles while on the Bulls. Also, Moses Malone won the 1983 rebounding title while leading the Sixers to the title.

Per penbeast, I was doing totals, not per-game average.

A name that strangely enough has not been mentioned yet: Dennis Rodman reeled off three straight rebounding titles while on the Bulls. Also, Moses Malone won the 1983 rebounding title while leading the Sixers to the title.

Again, didn't lead the league in total rebounds. In 96 and 97, it was David Robinson and Dikembe Mutombo.

I did screw up though, he did lead in total rebounds in 98! And I missed Moses in 83 for total rebounds, that is also correct!

I have them back to like 1974, actually. Kareem led in total blocks in 76 and 77, Elmore Smith the 2 years prior to that.

Also, mind with your totals, I missed Rodman in 98 and Moses in 83 for total rebounds, as Rich Michmond discovered.

Ah, you are correct, 74 was the year they started recording those in the NBA (they were already doing it in the ABA).

Still, it's neat to see who comes up most often. Jordan, obviously, was smashing points records all over the place. Kareem was everywhere: his name appears 9 times. Wilt appears 19 times. Jordan's there 14 times. Mutombo is there 9 times. Dwight Howard is there 8 times. Kevin Durant is there 5 times.
