Would current Jokic be top 2? Top 5? Top 10?

Jokic prolly translates hilariously well right? His defense becomes decent in that era given his strengths and weaknesses and he isn’t nearly as exploitable with a lack of open space

You don't see him play in the all-star game.

1990 year was so stacked it would highly depend on team circumstances. Jokic is phenomenal, but he didn't face the same competition in 2022 for MVP.

I have Jordan and Magic above hin

I'd say in the 2-4 range alongside Magic and Barkley but behind MJ. If I had to choose I'd probably put Jokic just behind Magic but ahead of Barkley although arguments for Jokic at 2 or 4 are just as legit imo.

Peak Ewing/Defensive peak Hakeem deserve mention also imo

I think Jokic ports back pretty positively, I'd say he's probably the best player on the planet, though competition was thick that year.

So in your opinion Jokic’s offensive advantage in enough for you to take him over MJ being a clearly better defensive player? (per position)

I no longer have the same questions about his defense, so I would have him #2 pretty comfortably I imagine.

My 1989-90 tiers would be something like...

01 MJ (31.2 PER | .606 TS% | 19.0 WS | .285 WS/48)

02 Barkley (27.1 PER | .661 TS% | 17.3 WS | .269 WS/48)
03 Magic (26.6 PER | .622 TS% | 16.5 WS | .270 WS/48)

04 Malone (27.2 PER | .626 TS% | 15.9 WS | .245 WS/48)
05 Admiral (26.3 PER | .597 TS% | 15.1 WS | .241 WS/48)
06 Stockton (23.9 PER | .607 TS% | 14.4 WS | .238 WS/48)

I think Nikola would fit into the Chuck/Magic tier & challenge Admiral for 1st Team All NBA center depending on what his team circumstances were. Robinson's Spurs finished 56-26 which was 3rd in the West & 4th overall, so Jokic might have had to settle for 2nd Team All NBA.

Probably 2nd or 3rd.

I think 90 Jordan is almost essentially peak Jordan, so he'd be my number 1.

Barkley had a very strong year too. Could see an argument for him, albeit I think Jokic is better.
