How many more years until you think LeBron retires?

Post#1 » by coastalmarker99 » Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:59 pm

I am thinking that he will play another 5 to 7 more years if he avoids a serious injury.

So that he can truly push every record out of reach as Brady did in the NFL.
Reggie Jackson is amazing and a killer in the clutch that's all.

I don't think he will play that long.

I thunk he will try to play a season with his son and bow out.

Unless that lines up with a team that can compete I see Lebron stopping as soon as he knows he can't play a significant role in a championship ready team.

He doesn't really have anything else to prove so it depends on how much he cares to push on.

I'm expecting 3 more seasons. He'll likely break Kareem's scoring record next season or will get so close he'll do it early in the 23/24 season. Then Bronny gets drafted in the 2024 class and Bron plays his last year with his son. He'd then be 40 for his last season, which seems like a good age to hang it up anyway. There is no position in basketball like QB in American Football where old guys can stay competitive even with all their athleticism gone.

He could get a very serious injury anytime and that will kill his career, suddenly.
As long as he stays healthy and he's ready to cut off his minutes and role he can player at least another 5 years.

I believe he will play 4 more seasons to match his jersey number (23) seasons, which will break Vince Carter's record of most seasons played.

Age 41-42 sounds about right to me so another 4-5 years.

I think one more year with such meager results and his legacy will suffer. If they dont rebuild and he misses the post season again (which is quite likely considering Kawhi will return), he will retire by end of next season.

At least 3 more seasons I think given he is able to. So long as his body is allowing him to continue to play like a top 10-15 player in the nba and 60+ games. I think next year may be a bounce back year for him where he puts up one more year that he is close to mvp level.

MJ's legacy didn't suffer from playing with the Wizards for 2 years and missing the playoffs. Kobe's didn't suffer from shot-jacking for 2 years on lottery teams. Hakeem was beyond washed his last 3 years, missed the playoffs twice and decided to join the Raptors for some reason. I can go on and on lol.

The biggest factor is, how much does he enjoy playing in the NBA relative to the other things in his life?

As an outsider, Lebron seems to have done a good job of not making his life revolve around the league the way so many other greats have. He seems to have cultivated hobbies and interests. If they're equal to playing in the NBA probably only a couple of seasons until he plays with his son.

If he doesn't have those hobbies or he just loves playing in the NBA so much it outweighs everything else he'll play until he can't (5-7 more years)

Ya, nobody really cares when an atg hangs around too long except those who only saw them at that stage. LeBron could still be a top 12 player at the age of 40 though. How his teams are doing is another thing. The Lakers have to have a healthy AD to do much.

Obvious he'll play at least until Bronny enters the league.

Which means 3 more seasons minimum.

You think he will have Kobe 2015 and 2016 Kobe-like seasons?

at risk of putting worda in ty mouth, i think he has said he dislikes the idea of lebron breaking kareem scoring record since he thinks is unfair that lebron got to skip college years

2 more is probably what he should do, but a lot of players have a tendency to play past their expiration date so I wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to play like 5 more honestly especially given Lebron’s ego.

Thats simply not true. We keep reading about MJ taking a year off and not winning after he returned, over and over.
