After carefully looking at basketball reference I want you to chose who is the better player.
Hot takes are welcome

Gobert already has more win shares in 362 less career games, and more playoff win shares in 30 less playoff games, so I'm going to go with him.

This is a ridiculous question, Camby is nowhere close to Gobert.

The OP is here to represent all those morons who voted Camby over Tim Duncan it appears.
Like what are we even doing?

2006 camby with peak rudy is closer than one might think because of cambys shooting, but Ill still give the nod to gobert. Gobert is clearly just slightly more active and playing a bit harder out there than camby

The year Camby won DPOY, Denver was actually worse defensively with him on the floor lol

I think I can say "it's not even close" here and not get called out for it.
Gobert and it's not close really.

Gobert by light years.
Gobert is genuinely one of the greatest defensive players of all time and his offense stacks up better than a large percentage of his defensive peers.

Technically true. Although he was a rookie and came off of the bench for most of that playoff run. He wasn't exactly the reason why the Knicks made the finals in 1999.

Camby was one of the most overrated defenders ever, especially for someone who won a DPOY.

Camby's shooting? He made 18 3pters in 17 years. Camby has an a horrible .503 TS%, while Gobert has a .671 TS%, the highest in NBA history. Gobert also is a higher volume scorer as well.

Centers shooting 3s wasn’t a thing in his era. Why am I talking about in the context of 2022 basketball? If he was playing now he’d be shooting 5 3s a game

talking about their 3 pt shooting and TS% doesn’t even address the point he made claiming Camby’s shooting was better.
Does Gobert’s TS% even include a single shot outside the paint?
I don’t even care if Camby was a better shooter and how much value that even adds, just taking issue with how you chose to argue against his point.

Fair point.
8077 FGA on his career. 14.3% from 10-16 feet, 22.6% from 16-23 feet. 34.2% FG from 10-16 feet, 35.9% from 16-23 feet. Not a good shooter. Nearly 3,000 FGA for those together, something like 2,980.
Gobert has 4,280 FGA to date, and about 2% of his attempts are from 10-23 feet. He shoots much less from those places, which is smarter. Do we know if he's a better shooter? I'd hazard a guess that he is not, given that he's a 63.8% FT shooter. Camby wasn't a lot better at 67%, but Gobert is smart enough to know that he SHOULDN'T be taking those shots when he's so bad at them. That is also an important trait.
Gobert's a better offensive rebounder and shoots some 13.5% better inside 3 feet than did Camby, so there's that to consider. He does what he's supposed to do a lot better, even setting aside the defensive aspect.
Camby also never should have won his DPOY, which is another point of note.

LOL! Camby is a better shooter than Gobert.
That's like saying Lillard being a better defender than Isaiah Thomas is some determining factor between the two.
Its always nice getting a little wiff of the general board, the Chinese Buffet to the PC Boards hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese Restaurant.

Gobert is significantly better. Like I don’t understand why you think it’s close between the two.

Gen section is bad but not THAT bad. Most people are well aware Camby was not that impactful defensively.
Lol at the guy mentioning Camby went to the finals though, I was fully expecting someone to say that. There's always that one guy.
