Just what the title says. Before 2019 was there ever a time that KD was actually a better basketball player than LeBron?

Other than 2022 and 2021 his best shot is possibly 2014

I wouldn't say better. I'd say very close in 2014 and 2015 up until the injury. I don't think he's played enough since 2019 to clearly make any judgements either.

These are the prime lebron years where i think durant has some shot

2014: durant may have been the best regular season player. If you are low on lebron playoffs run this is one year where durant has a good shot (as durant didnt have his best playoffs either)

2019 for lebron injury issues and not seeing him perform in the playoffs

2021 and 2022 durant has a strong case as lebron has had injurie struggles and started to decline

2016-17.

Durant was incredibly efficient on offense that season, shot similar overall to James (much better FT%) but with far fewer turnovers, was a better rebounder and 3 times the shot blocker. Plus stats.nba.com for 2016-17 shows on defense Durant allowed a 39.7% FG% on defense, James a 42.2% FG%.

The creation and self creation gaps easily overcome all that imo

before 2019? well no one was a better basketball player than lebron at any point from 2009-2018 so certainly not

October 30th 2013 to Februrary 19th 2015.

2019 Season is the clearest example. This past season is probably next. After these 2yrs I cant see it. Sure maybe his 2014 season was technically "better." But imo he wasnt at all a better player.

Maybe 2015 before his injury, though some might be hesitant to count that year considering how his season played out.
