Even then ... don't these models tilt heavily on RS performance to figure opponent strength?

but
1) Whilst that may be an accurate picture of them on average over a large sample, it's less likely to be so versus a specific match-up over a smaller sample.
and/or
2) If one is going to tilt heavily towards postseason, use it as the primary discussion point etc then wouldn't one say RS performance is largely meaningless whilst playoffs are where it happens (and thus for instance Stockton-Malone Jazz, Robinson-Rodman Spurs are going to be much overrated opponents, Shaq-Kobe Lakers underrated opponents) making significant RS weighting problematic?
