LaMelo definitely seems to have a clearer path to being an elite player due to his physical tools, should he learn how to use them, especially defensively. Unfortunately for Garland due to his physical size and strength he's basically gonna have to be one of the best offensive players in the league to be an elite player, sort of like Nash. He definitely has the skill to do that though, just a matter of putting it together.
Due to team construction I see Garland as having a "better year" though LaMelo might put up more impressive box scores.

I agree, but it was interesting to see Garland as a strong plus defender, something unusual for a you get smaller player. But overall, you’re right—‘Melo with his size has has the easier path.
