Wade just doesn't have the longevity at this point. He missed a few seasons during his absolute prime due to injury and then also was essentially done (again due to injury) as a dominant player by his 30th birthday.

Is this because Curry is generally regarded as a below average defender?

Curry is seen generally anywhere from average to a good plus defender for at the PG position. The argument for Wade would be all-nba level defense with GOAT level rim protection at the guard spot. Also, the belied that Wade is generally more resilient against the strongest defenses than Curry.

Which is a total myth. Relative to his position he's one of the better defenders, and unlike most star players he plays defense all game. He just can't guard savey & physical players like Kawhi or Harden. Guys like Westbrook, LeBron, Durant actually struggle against him because he understands how to use his teammates.
The fact that Curry plays hard on both sides of the ball all game, instead of coasting and having his teammates do the hard work, is highly under appreciated. I know they try and hide him and he's not usually taking on the best player, but at least he's putting in the work.
Imagine how much better other star players teams would be if they actually worked hard on both sides of the ball.

You're talking like we have never seen stars playing hard on both sides of the court and Curry is some kind of outlier in this case...

Usually you don't see them working hard on both sides of the court, and the amount of work Curry puts in on both sides is an outlier.
