For me [off the top of my head] KG > Oscar > West > Dirk > Kobe > KD > Robinson > Malone > Barkley

If this were just rs my top 4 would be the same as your's but to me West was so much better in the playoffs that he is #1. Oscar gets penalized just because he missed the playoffs so much so couldn't perform.

I dont consider KG to drop impact in the playoffs. If anything, his defensive responsibilities increased in the post-season.

Very simply added my SRS estimates for each player and sorted them. As a tie-breaker, consecutive seasons and then highest peak take priority. Added some other players of similar caliber just for fun.

00-08 KG (49)
80-88 Bird (48.25)
83-91 Magic (48.25)
14-19, 21-22 Curry (46.85)

61-69 Oscar (43.5)
01-04, 06-10 Kobe (43.5)
62-66, 68-70, 72 West (43)
90-96, 98-99 Robinson (43)
04-12 Dirk (42)
11-14, 16-18, 21-22 KD (42)

08-09, 11-15, 17-18 Paul (40)
90-98 Malone (38.5)
74-82 Erving (38)
02-10 Nash (37.5)

87-95 Barkley (36.5)

Yeah I simply see his level of average season a bit lower than most of these guys. Incredible longevity as an All-NBA level player though.

I voted Kobe, His '01, '03 & '06-'10 seasons were all ATG, so throw in '02 & '13 since you need 9 and I'd take those 9 seasons over anybody else's in the poll.

Because he was better than the others.

He had less talent than most here on his teams and had such a load. His team consistently won 55 games average a season for over 13 straight seasons.

1990-98 =
53.3fg%, 7.3ftm, 74.9ft%10.8reb, 3.7ast, 1.4stl, 0.9blk, 27.5pts

26PER, 59.6TS%, 89.7ows, 47.6dws, 137.3ws, .234ws/48, 6.5bpm, 60.5vorp

FOR COMPARISON:

Everyone's darling Garnett -

2000-08 =
49.7fg%, 4.6ftm, 79.3ft%, 12.4reb, 4.9ast, 1.4stl, 1.6blk, 22.1pts

25.7PER, 55.4TS%, 72.5ows, 52.1dws, 124.6ws, .217ws/48, 7.6bpm, 66.9vorp

So he had comparable stats to someone who played in a more defensive era and was almost certainly a worse defender which is barely covered in the stats you mentioned? Not to mention he was set up with Stockton the entire time and still wasn't that efficient.

Doesn't sound like Malone should win? Wonder why you picked Garnett and not Robinson or Bryant or other guys with big RS numbers...hmmm.

I compared to Garnett because both play the same position. Garnett is a top 10 defender ever, most are worse defenders than him. Malone was a very good defender himself. Stockton was great but Malone carried the scoring heavily on those teams.

Garnett was not as good as Malone in RS and PS.

Kobe wasn't better in the RS -

2001-09 =
45.6fg%, 7.4ftm, 84.5ft%, 5.8reb, 5.3ast, 1.7stl, 0.5blk, 28.7pts

24.9PER. 56TS%, 84.4ows, 28.2dws, 112.6ws, .201ws/48, 5.9bpm, 53.3vorp

Well, using your own logic, Malone is **not** a top 10 offensive player ever, and Garnett was a very good offensive player as well! So that's settled then.
