The twin towers lineup doesn't seem to be working out that well so far for the wolves.
Mitchell is off to a great start with the Cavs and they are pretty deep and balanced.

This isn't really about what either player is or how they are impacting the game.

Gobert pretty clearly. He’s been the more impactful player throughout their whole careers, and a 7 game sample, in which Gobert is still trying to get accommodated to playing next to another center while Mitchell is shooting well above his head from three, doesn’t change things yet.

I don’t watch the cavs much, how’s mitchells defense been?
I think that’s one of the main reasons his impact was a bit overrated, but it always felt like an effort thing vs a talent thing

Solid so far. He’s competing hard on that end. He’s made a couple impressive high leverage rebounds and blocks so far down the stretch of some games too. The only game I would say he was poor on defense was against the Knicks.

Yep. Let's see how Donovan adjust to playing alongside Garland before starting a thread like this.

I think both these moves were made with the post-season in mind, if anything we should wait until the end of the season to judge these moves. I expect both Cleveland and Minnesota to peak (Post-trade) in the 2023-2024 season.

I have no concerns about that honestly. Garland is one of the most unselfish and low ego stars in the league, and he’s perfectly comfortable spending time as an off the ball threat. And so far based on preseason and 1.5 regular season games, their offensive games fit perfectly because they’re both such great shooters, penetrators, and playmakers (with Garland being elite and Mitchell leaning more good). Garland does a better job of finding the bigs while Mitchell does a better job of putting pressure on and scoring at the rim especially against tough defenses. Their dual-presence allow this team to be trap-proof as well.
I’m mostly worried about how Mitchell’s defensive intensity holds up. So far it’s been awesome. And Garland himself is an underrated defender, so combined with the best defensive frontline in basketball, we can be elite on that end. But if he starts giving that Utah effort at any point, his value drops dramatically. And then I’m also worried about his shot selection, especially at the ends of games. In Utah he tended to settle a lot down the stretch for inefficient shots. So far he’s been mostly good about that here, but I’m worried about his hero ball tendencies surfacing.

Bump because I think we’ve seen a good amount from this year

kind of hard for me to take gobert over mitchell in today's game with all the playoff stuff, even though I think its a different case if we port him back a bit.

Mitchell had rated out as the better PS performer from 20-22, and I don't believe that was just "lucky," shooting, as he is hard to keep out of the lane. But Mitchell is having a career year, and his defense seems back to about his sophomore year levels.
Also, Gobert doesn't seem to necessarily be moving the same the way he had the prior years. Not saying he is definitely slowing down, but something to keep an eye on.
