Re: Reggie Miller vs Moses Malone
For todays NBA I'd take Miller. I can grab Reggie up and pair him up with other bigs that can do what Antonio and Dale Davis were doing for that Pacers team around 1998, and make great runs into the playoffs.
Moses would be great today too, but yeah. I've made my choice. Miller would also be that much more dangerous depending on what other shooters are put out on the floor with him in such a line up.

Re: Reggie Miller vs Moses Malone
If I have outstanding talent already or I'm a prime free agent destination where it would be relatively easy to add talent (the Lakers, Heat, or a competent Knicks ownership group), I might consider Reggie. But since I'm a Wizards fan and they've never been a place people want to play, I'd take prime Moses because he can carry a relatively weak group of 3 point shooters a long way with a game plan like Dwight Howard had in Orlando.

Center who can't shoot vs one of the (3) greatest shooters ever, to me this is Miller. Moses is a better player historically though.

Moses' touch was soft enough that he could be taught to shoot like a modern center.
Incredibly rare for 76% (80% in his later years) FT shooters to be unable to shoot...

If you don’t think Reggie’s overrated, check out the people who voted for him over Moses!

Re: Reggie Miller vs Moses Malone
Amongst like Top 25 players all time I think Moses has the least amount of support from the board. Not necessarily in a negative way but in a indifferent way. Cant think of a single poster ever really championing him as you tend to see with players of his caliber. I guess rebounding doesn't really appeal to most like shooting does.
Interesting comparsion with a worse player like Miller that has a decent amount of support on this board while providing two things that catch the eye. Namely shooting and increased play in the postseason.
Reggie would have an increase in volume in todays league but Id take Moses because i cant imagine modern bigs keeping him off the glass.

I have been Moses advocate for almost my entire history on this board

Lol yea my bad. Not gonna lie I mostly think of you as reppin 20th century players. In a sort of "dont forget the greats" way and Malone definitely falls in that category but not just him exclusively if that makes sense.

Moses all day and every day.

Moses could shoot though...
Could he shoot like Jarrett Allen or could he shoot like Al Horford? Big difference.
In todays game, which OP specified, I really have a hard time selecting a guy who isn't an elite spacer/shooter for his position over literally the best shooter at his position ever.
Against elite teams, it's very difficult to play a guy who isn't a spacer in closing minutes and be successful, it just is. Even if just 10% of teams provide this matchup problem that's still way more than a guy like Miller, who you'd never even have to think twice about taking out in any closing situation.

Neither, there are many options in between. Comparing Moses shooting ability to Allen is just ridiculous to be honest.

Sorry, but that's just nonsense.

Jokic, Embiid, Davis, Gobert, KAT.. that's not bad at all.

Allen is like a 48-50% shooter between 10 and 20 ft the last couple years. You think Malone is better?

Plus others spending some time there, I would assume ... there's only one pure center in the rotation at GS or Milwaukee, so Giannis and Draymond.

Re: Reggie Miller vs Moses Malone
I think it’s a good comparison. Random, but interesting. I think Miller gets a boost playing today, while Moses gets a bit worse. They’re starting from different levels though, I don’t think Miller has any seasons approaching 82 or 83 Moses, and Moses is just plain better in all time rankings. So…i still want to say Moses but hesitantly. No moses wasn’t Dirk or Jokic as a shooter, far from it but with time to adapt I don’t think he’s any worse than Giannis in that area. The dude could score, he had moves. He was a hell of a rebounder, not a good passer and probably not an outstanding defender today either. Miller has his own problems too, where he’s probably going to have to exert more energy on defense with him having to also defend 3s and not just shoot them. In some ways he would be like a taller Curry without the handles or passing ability, it’s tempting but I don’t think that’s better than Moses. Probably comes down to how Moses’ defense translates. Maybe 70sfan can chime in that one.
