Dame About To Reach Trail Blazer Scoring Record

Dame is 20 points away from catching Clyde Drexler as the Trail Blazers all-time leading scorer. I know that for a lot of franchises, 18,040 points isn’t a big deal. But here in Portland, Clyde has held the record for almost 27 years. Kudos to Dame for sticking with the franchise and the city. The basketball community is often fixated on rings, but in other sports like baseball, such records are important milestones.

Actually 18k with one team is pretty good when you consider how many of the guys who went over 20k moved around at some point. There probably aren't that many players who scored over 20k with only 1 team and Dame could go for like 25k by the time he is done.

Too bad it couldn't have been Brandon Roy. Lillard is special, and Roy was special, but I think Roy was even rarer.

That's not even half way to what Karl Malone scored with the Jazz. That's just insane.
He should be able to pass up Bird, Thomas, Wade, KG, Greer, English, Robertson and Westbrook. Getting past LeBron, Wilks and Reggie would be huge.

Kudos to Damian. While we're buried in the "RINGZZZ!!!!" era of analysis too often, I think it's good for the game when a great player passes milestones for a single franchise. His name will always be synonymous with the Blazers and city of Portland.
