Who's the better player?

Giannis is a more dominant offensive player and that's without going into defense.

Weird comp. I take Freak for the two-way dominance. My crude reasoning would be that "tall skill beats small skill." Gianni has inherent athletic/genetic advantages that he leverages. Nash was an offensive magician.

The poll is based on Luke's thread of who was the best #15 draft pick. He felt strongly enough to go with Giannis even though there are other single draft pick comparisons that could have gone more one-sided.

I wanted to see how one-sided or close this comparison is.

I still prefer Nash but expect Giannis to surpass him in the coming year(s).

Giannis still has a high ceiling for ATG lists

I wasn't sure about that and had neither of them bold at first. Had Giannis because of defense. But this is probably the one I feel least strongly about of all the players I had in bold.

The idea of making polls is a great idea by the way.

Nash is considerably better offensively, but the defensive gap is too much.

Giannis in terms of peak/short prime, though for now Nash is still higher on my all-time list. I expect him to surpass Nash, we will see in future.

Giannis certainly isn't a more dominant offensive player than Nash, come on...

Easily Giannis now.
Nash and Giannis both have b2b MVPs.
Giannis has one Finals MVP and one DPOY.
Nash has 3x 1team, 2x 2nd team, and 2x 3rd team all-nba.
Giannis has 4x 1 team, 2x 2nd team, and 4x all-D 1st team.

Unlike other greats, Nash is a late boomer so he does not really have a longevity edge. Is a 3rd team all-nba enough to offset 4x all-D, DPOY, and Finals MVP, even without considering Giannis another monster season right now?
Giannis may get his 3rd MVP this year, and then I don't think there is a reasonable argument to have him out of top 15 atgs.

I feel nash may have an underrated era-relative peak/prime case here but in absolute terms, Giannis kind of outclasses. So i'll use that as a tiebreaker and say Giannis

longetvity may give nash a career argument though

Giannis pretty easily. More dominant in era, often being considered 1 or 2 in the regular season. Has 2 real MVPs while Nash's are quite controversial (giannis only controversial because harden scored 36 ppg). Can be a helio on offense and play like a DPOY so you have more options to build around him.

Giannis doesn't need great talent around him to be effective on offense consistently. He's a far Bette overall player.

Nash has had the #1 offense his entire prime so he certainly doesn't "need" great offensive talent.

Actually, we have seen Giannis being neutralized (2019 vs Raptors) or at least slowed down (2020 vs Heat, 2022 vs Celtics) on offense when his teammates didn't show up. We have not seen such thing with Nash.

Giannis is a better overall player because of defense, but he has no case on offense over Nash.

Cause he could have shot the ball much more efficiently than passing to a teammate. All other players in the comparison are higher, most are much higher volume scorers.
