Would Phil have made the '13 Lakers contenders?

Obviously we don't know how close they came to actually rehiring him IRL but do you think he could have made something out of that Nash/Kobe/Pau/Dwight core?

If everything else holds true that season, I don't see how it would be possible with both Kobe and Nash injured and Darius Morris and Andrew Goudelock as their replacements.

Also mind that Phil was probably the worst coach to get value out of Nash, and that Dwight wasn't Shaq, right? He was not a particularly bright post player, nor an especially adept passer from the post. He also didn't have even the kind of range we saw from Ho Grant, let alone Robert Horry, so his utility as the non-primary scorer inside the triangle was only so much.

Old Nash + old Kobe + Antawn Jamison + old Pau = 120 ORtg...

for the opponent.

There was no way of salvaging that.

The best Phil would/could do is load manage Kobe and Nash within the triangle which would lead to no playoffs but longer careers.
