If you are starting a team today and can chose between prime Lowry (starting from the age you pick) or current Brunson (you get a peek for this season and need to bet on the development for next 5 years), who do you take? Assuming both healthy.

I would very clearly take Kyle Lowry from 2015-2019 or 2016-2020 over Brunson over the next 5 years. Lowry is peaking at all nba levels of impact Brunson currently is a fringe all star at best and I doubt he ever reaches all nba levels

I would take Brunson because of his mid range game. When you have that shot in your arsenal, you can control the game.

Does that mean you don't think Brunson will become much better? He has improved each season on his rookie contract and this is his first year with real freedom to operate. Lowry only had 1x third-team selection anyways. I like Lowry's intangibles and defense but Brunson seems to be a better shooter and can get to anywhere he wants like a mini Luka.

Another month past, Jalen is still improving. From last post to now, Brunson averaged 29.1/4.2r/6.0a/1.8to shooting 54/45/81. The Knicks got 10w-3l. Remember, this is his first season and he is still adjusting

Brunson would have to match Lowry's impact defensively in order for me to even consider this. Lowry led multiple 50 win and even a 60 win team. His overall impact on winning far outweighs the offensive advantages that Brunson has. If (and only if) Brunson can match that impact on both ends, I'll gladly reconsider this. But it's really not a contest.

Brunson is not a better shooter than Lowry. Lowry was one of the best three-point shooters in the league at his peak. He had a three-year stretch when he averaged 3.0 3PG on 40% shooting from deep. Put peak Lowry in today's game and he's 3.5+ 3PG with 60+ TS%.

This is not even a question, Brunson is a better shooter from anywhere (mid-range by a lot), 3-10, 10-16, 16-3p, 3p... even under basket. He is just better creating his own shot from mid range.
