Where would you rank Durant on your all-time list if he wins the title and FMVP this year on the Suns?

The exact same spot I would rank him if he puts together the same quality season without winning either. Low teens would be my precise spot.

I would have him neck-and-neck with David Robinson

12-14 sounds reasonable. Don't agree that ESPN already had him #12 two years ago and above Curry.

Assuming amazing postseason run, I guess around 17th or 18th spot? Maybe 16th? Don't see him higher than that.

Depends on the context, but it’s hard to see it doing a significant amount for him.

So, an assumption - the whole playoff run is good to great, clearly best player on Suns (seems likely given the hypothetical).

It would help him a decent amount for me as his first title run as clearly the best player on his squad (I can see an argument for him as best in '18, but don't personally subscribe and it's certainly not clear).

I had him #25 in the recent preliminary top 100, though without factoring in this season at all. A decent end to the season and say a 2nd round out probably gets him past Barkley/Nash, while a great end to the season probably gets him by Moses and maybe West/Robinson. Probably doesn't catch CP3/Curry as they're still moving up a little too. Short of Bird.

So somewhere from 20-22 depending on specific level of play and how I'm feeling on that day.

Have him #21 right now.

Would have him 17-20 with a good run I think, past Erving, maybe Robinson, maybe West, maybe Paul depending on how well he plays.

With such a ranking, where would you rank his peak / best season

I see it that way as well. This is my current list 14-22.

14. Larry Bird
15. Jerry West
16. Kobe Bryant
17. Steph Curry
18. Chris Paul
19. David Robinson
20. Kevin Durant
21. Julius Erving
22. Steve Nash

Nice list. My 14-22 for comparison:

14. Karl Malone
15. Jerry West
16. Steph Curry
17. Julius Erving
18. David Robinson
19. Dirk Nowitzki
20. Chris Paul
21. Kevin Durant
22. Moses Malone

Sometimes I think I should have Bird lower.

Will chime in for fun as well :)

West - Curry - Erving - Nowitzki - Paul - Durant - Robinson - Malone - Nash

I'm far more keen on PS translation (as a floor raiser) and prime qual, along with longevity - to gain a sense of which players for their eras are going to provide the largest safety-net of championship value.

Which Malone?

Karl. While he sustained at or near his best value for a pretty significant time span, i'm not high on his apex personally

I have him #25 right now. Winning a title and Finals MVP as the guy would have him on the borderline of the top 20. His career is remarkably similar to Kobe who I have #20. Kobe has 2 rings as the lead dog, but also probably had less consistency throughout his prime and had already quit being an impact player at a younger age than Durant is now.

For me a title this year with Phx would just finally get him on the level of most of the other players I have as top 17 or so. The titles in GS were more like window dressing, just him being in a perfect spot and showing how efficiently he can score when motivated and in that situation. The problem is that no other top 25 player has ever been in a situation that perfect so it's nice as a snap shot of what he can do but its not something I see as his own accomplishment. He didn't have to add anything chemistry wise to that team. So with a title this year I think I'd have him more neck and neck with Dirk.

For so many people in this thread saying KD is still behind Cp3 all time, what exactly has Paul done to deserve the higher rank?

Have much better longevity while being arguably better in their best seasons window (2013-16).
