How would you rank these casts based on Talent? How would you rate these casts based on fit around the Superstar [Durant, Davis, PG13, Kawhi, CP3]

2023: Chris Paul, Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton
2020: LeBron James, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green, Kyle Kuzma, Alex Caruso
2020: Kawhi Leonard, Lou Williams, Marcus Morris, Ivica Zubac, Montrezl Harrell, Landry Shamet
2019: Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam, Serge Ibaka, Danny Green, Fred VanVleet
2018: James Harden, P.J. Tucker, Trevor Ariza, Clint Capella, Eric Gordon

Looking at that, the 2020 Clippers have to be last on that list by a mile even with Kawhi. Two guys who are unplayable in the playoffs (Trez and Lou), one guy who peaked in his rookie year and massively regressed ever since (Shamet), and another guy who's unreliable and undisciplined when it matters (Morris). Between that and how bad the coaching was, not hard to see why that team never once passed the eye test with me.

Well one of those has the league’s best player baked in, plus plenty of defensive support, so that is an easy choice.

After the 2020 Lakers, might lean 2019 Raptors. You did not even mention Marc Gasol. Just an incredible team for any superstar wing (less so for Davis, who pairs best with the Rockets).

Um at some of those superstar-supporting cast decisions...

I think 2020 Lakers or 2019 Raptors supporting cast would be the best, 2020 has the best 2nd player (Davis), 2019 Raptors have the best depth imo. Suns are stacked at the top but I need to see how their depth shakes out.

Discussing how 5 different supporting casts compare isn't a bait.

Harden 2018 and Kawhi 2020 were the stars on their teams.

The main superstars are made part of the casts for some reason except 19. That's random.

As it's laid out 2020 LAL and 2019 are the clear top two. The 2019 Raptors are a better overall squad but you always take LeBron when you can, so I'll go 2020 LAL > 2019. Then 2018 > 2022 > 2020 LAC.

What do you mean?

The reason for these is because I chose players who were traded onto an existing roster. Nothing is random.

Durant > 2023 Phoenix Suns
AD > 2020 LA Lakers
PG13 > 2020 LA Clippers [after Kawhi signed, yes they were a package but it was still a real trade]
Kawhi > 2019 Toronto Raptors
CP3 > 2018 Houston Rockets

That makes a lot more sense.

For overall supporting cast quality, I'd say Toronto was highest. Extremely well coached, played elevated each other and allowed the superstar to focus on his strengths.

oh. Well that raptors team isn't winning anything without Gasol unless its davis and he goes bubble mode.

Yeah I agree. I was just comparing the listed players. Gasol was a Top 3 guy for them.
