KAT v Dirk
How would you compare KAT as best he's been to date versus prime Dirk?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I would take 2000-01, age 22 year old Dirk over any Towns.. without any second-guess

Re: KAT v Dirk
KAT is pretty close to Dirk offensively but Dirk was a marginally plus defensive player throughout his prime and KAT is one of the worst defensive big men in the league despite being a very good athlete for his size. KAT is closer to Amare than Dirk.
KAT has also not been up to the task in the playoffs yet, seeming to shrivel up as the stakes increase. I think it's still a little too early to write him off -- lots of people wrote Dirk off long before 2011 -- but I don't think KAT has the passion and toughness to be a really great player.
