Better Player: Luka vs D Wade

Post#1 » by 1993Playoffs » Thu Mar 9, 2023 2:02 pm

Based off what you seen so far from Luka how would you compare his offensive / overall game to D Wade ?

Worse offensively and worse overall due to a large gap defensively.

Luka will likely go down as the better player, but he’s not there yet. Wade has a solid edge on defense, and as of now I prefer his scoring skillset to Luka’s. Luka is a better passer, but that doesn’t bridge the gap for me.

I like Luka but these recent comparisons to all-time greats are rough because I don't think Luka is quiet at that level yet.

Wade and for now, I don't think it's that close either.

Interesting timing, but it is clearly Wade anyways as of now even asked right after the 60/20/10 game. Have to support Luka on the poll though

This tells you why such posts emerge from OP only when Luka struggles or Mavs lose games:

It’s quite the hard sell. I think Luka and Harden is a good comparison, while I see Wade as closer to (say) Kobe and West

What makes Peak/Prime Kobe better than Peak/Prime Harden?

Is Kobe really that much more resilient in the PS than Harden?

I think part of it is also his overall discipline to work within the triangle. Kobe learning how to work so well within it made his teammates better and harder to stop than Harden's offenses I would say where he often ended up shouldering too much of the load.

Yeah well we never saw Harden with a Pau Gasol or Shaquille O'Neale level big man.

The best we saw was Chris Paul, and that team was likely to beat the greatest team ever assembled [KD/Steph Warriors] except CP3 was injured.
