2020 Heat with CP3

Post#1 » by rand » Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:56 am

What if the 2020 Miami Heat had Chris Paul on their roster instead of Goran Dragic, would they have won the title?

Assume Paul stays healthy through the playoffs and remember that Dragic was basically lost for the Finals.

Yes it was a close series so CP3 would be enough to turn it around.

It would only have been more satisfying watching playoff Rondo hitting shots in Paul’s face.

Miami would've been able to get shots so much easier. It's conceivable. Duncan Robinson & Tyler Herro needed someone to get them in better positions. Also, Meyers Leonard could've been used more often to space the floor.

Assuming Cp3 stays healthy for a title run is way too hypothetical

Generally fair but historically CP3 was a rock in 2020. Physically he looked great in the Rockets series. I think he would have made it.

But I agree, the thread would have been better off if the question was just "Would the Heat have beaten the Lakers with CP3 instead of Dragic", which is the main issue.

If CP3 had come to Miami for 2019-2020 could he have convinced Dwyane Wade to play one more season (off the bench).

Those two together could've been the difference needed!
