Who is the better player - this year's Paul or championship Kidd? Two years stretch might also be worth a discussion, i.e. Paul 22' 23' vs Kidd 10' 11', but I guess it favors Paul.

Kidd by far on durability alone. Played 80 games and was healthy all playoffs.

This is another useless Cp3 season now that hes gotten injured and basically done.

Kidd was a much better offball shooter and faaaaaar better defender. Better passer, playmaker too. Cp3 is a better ballhandler and scorer but his scoring isnt even good anymore. Its actually sad watching him. Kidd transitioned to the elite role player phase seamlessly since he developed a great offball shot, was still an elite defensive Pg. The Clips series was sad seeing how Cp3 got bullied by anyone he was guarding and its like he still has a star mindset when hes a role player now. His offball game isnt good and hes mainly effective with the ball but he isnt good enough to warrant touches

I probably give Kidd an edge here. His ability to defend big wings was vital to that Dallas team and the offense while clearly centered around Dirk was also built on the best ball movement in the league, and that was all about Jason Kidd who was the best extra passer the league has probably ever seen. And he was enough of a threat behind the arc that teams had to guard him.

I do disagree that Paul is washed as some have tried to sell. He still finds a bunch of ways to impact games for the Suns, just like Kidd was doing for Dallas. I just think Kidd was able to have more impact.

Is CP3 22' vs Kidd 10' the same advantage to Kidd?

I slightly prefer 2011 Kidd to 2023 CP3. Similar tier players with both extremely important to their teams in the post-season.

I mean he missed 32 regular season games and now is out for the playoffs w/ injury early in round 2. How can you place any value on this unreliable season for him? Not like he was playing at a high level or anything either

Kidd. As the OP alluded too, there’s a vast gap in availability in both a RS/PS setting here. I don’t think either is moving too much a needle as an advantage creator here, but are still solid facilitators. Defense is in Kidd’s favor as well, neithers’ scoring was great.

Apparently stating a fact is hating? The guy is frequently injured in the playoffs, I don't understand how it can be avoided in a discussion.

Definitely '11 Kid.

I take Kidd clearly, Paul is washed (though still a positive player).

Whilst I think taking Jason Kidd is defensible even without health considerations (and the correct choice with health considered), I wonder how much Chris Paul would be brutally crucified if he ever had a FG% of 36.1, 3P% of 34.0 and had an on/off of -5.2 in a single year.

CP3 is lousy relative to what he was in his prime (and honestly, even last year, lol) but he's still a good starter, the same way Jason Kidd was.
