I have seen at least 3 trades posted where the Wiz trade Monte Morris+ to "upgrade" to Tyus Jones. Both are outstanding at not turning over the ball, neither bring much scoring. Unless Tyus Jones gives you much stronger defense, I don't see where the upgrade is.
Before he went to Washington, some people said Morris's efficiency was due to playing with Jokic but that's certainly not the case in Washington where he has maintained his numbers while playing with, well, the Wizards. And against starters primarily, while Tyus Jones has been primarily a backup. What am I missing here?
Last year's per 36 numbers from BB-R:
Monte Morris 6'2 183 Age 27 (will turn 28 soon)
4.5 reb, 6.9 ast, 13.5 pts, 1.3 turnovers. .579 ts%
Tyus Jones 6'0 196 Age 27 (just turned)
3.7 reb, 7.7 ast, 15.3 pts, 1.4 turnovers, .546 ts%

I’m a Morris guy, so I don’t really see it. And a reminder that Morris was all-time efficient in college as well, the Jokic points were always a bit silly.

The upgrade lies in the defense, but Tyus may look vastly better when it comes to impact (I’m unsure and would have to look into it) due to situation and playing with a vastly better cast - against bench-men more than starters that too.
