Knowing what you know now, who would you draft top 3 in a draft? You get 3 choices.

Assuming current environment

Curry
Jokic
Giannis

Kobe
Dr. J
Dirk
Durant

K. Malone

Could see good arguments for anyone but Malone being top 3.

Knowing what we know now, KMalone is likely the best here, regardless of what people think of him.

Who did he have on his team that accounts for so many winning seasons (av 55 wins over some thirteen years from late 1980s to early 2000s? If you say Stockton, then you must admit that he was a great player, among the best guards of alltime, as the Jazz had noone that anyone would consider valuable on any want to be championship team. Hornacek was nice but had his flaws and wasn't among the best on either end at his position. Eaton was nice but if you say him, you can't say he was such a liability on one end, as they would make him a neutral overall.

Durant had stacked teams all his career and only made the finals four team when he should've double that amount.

Curry similar to Durant but with more success.

DrJ similar to Durant.

Kobe also similar to Durant.

Giannis has had good level of success but is in an era with far less good bigs and thus less resistance against him.

Nowitzki had success but didn't progress much in the playoffs most seasons and did when he had pretty good talent, even older experienced veterans.

Jokic at the moment looks great but in three years if he doesn't even make it to another wcf, most would consider him differently and he is average at best on one end.

Malone's "nba career" is the best here, for longest duration, and few would have carried a team to as many wins as he did.

You are preposterously underplaying Karl Malone's team mates, and I say that as someone who has him ranked around 15ish.

Guys like Eaton, when considering their value to the teams results at a given time, are judged based on their value at that time. Eaton was a DPOY; he'd be played off the court today, but back then he was an all-star who enjoyed being guarded on the perimeter thanks to illegal defence rules and poor defensive schemes. Hornacek and Jeff Malone respectively were all-stars also, even if lower level ones. I could go on.

Eaton was very good at what he did but wouldn't have looked as important without Stockton and Malone. Jeff Hornacek and Jeff Malone weren't allstars when on the Jazz and weren't close to it.

Eaton won DPOY when Malone was in college and Stockton was a rookie playing bench minutes...

His team didn't exactly win much either. They won well after he left.

Just because someone doesn't make an all-star team doesn't mean they weren't all-star calibre in given year. Jeff Malone is a good example of this. He went to Utah and had less touches, so couldn't actually make the all-star team because there is only one ball and finite stats to go around. He was just as good though, just as Manu was no worse a player when he went to the bench. Of course Manu was better than Jeff Malone, but the point stands, and applies to Hornacek also.

Karl Malone only has a lot of wins (and **relative** postseason success) cause he's the only one that had his prime on the trash mid-late 90s.

Is this a serious argument?

Jokic
Curry
Giannis

In that order I suppose. Kobe and Dirk are next in line.

Why Dirk over Giannis in your mind? Not that I think it’s unreasonable.

I voted Durant, Dirk and Giannis, but I didn't see Kobe, who pushes out Dirk.

Does he though? I also don't really get the Kobe over Curry argument. It seems inexplicable to me.

Jokic the obvious first choice, Kobe is one of a kind with his drive and skillset. Third is between KD and Curry. Since he does a lot more on D, i would go with KD here.
so
Joker
Kobe
KD
Curry
Dirk

Everyone else either didnt see enough full game coverage or just not the same tier for me.

A little surprised Dirk isn't getting more love.
