Slowest players at each position who still were NBA starter material.

My first cut take:

PG Mark Jackson -- strong, smart, not terribly quick
SG J.J. Redick -- pure shooter
SF Kyle Anderson -- team captain
PF Ryan Anderson -- no relation
C Georghe Muresan -- 7'8 and fundamentally sound, but Greg Ostertag could put the ball on the floor and take him to the basket in isolation

Are we considering slow to be at the lower end of the speed or quickness spectrum, or both?

Dirk especially in his later years

Muresan is hard to beat at C, but Hibbert and Yao are up there. Maybe Duckworth?

I'm thinking more quickness, first step, staying in front of opponents rather than end to end speed. Yao was above average for a 7'6+ guy (of which there have only been 6 or so. I'd go with Shawn Bradley as the quickest, maybe Manute if he could untangle himself, but Yao over Georghe, Tacko, or Slavko Vranes (who I admit I don't remember ever seeing play).

I was thinking Redick was probably the one that there should be slower guys out there, maybe Ryan Anderson too. Assuming Slow Mo is actually that slow though he always looks really coordinated out there rather than awkward.

PG Andre Miller
SG Steve Smith
SF Brandon Ingram

PF and C there are so many guys you could go with; maybe PF Charles Oakley and C past-'94 Patrick Ewing

Andre Miller and Steve Smith were both pretty athletic when they came into the league, ATL was having Smith play PG. Is Ingram really slower afoot than Kyle Anderson?

I consider Luka, like Magic or Oscar, a two defensively (which is where I make my positional ratings). You think he is slower afoot than Redick?

I think Jared Dudley should have a spot on the bench. He wasn't a bad defender in his prime, but that definitely wasn't due to his quickness.

Ilgauskas should be the starting center. Early injuries derailed what could have been an amazing career. That said, he still carved out several years as a talented, crafty veteran.

Hey, I may get persuaded to change any other position, that's why I've been asking questions when people make suggestions, but not My Giant. Muresan was the slowest player to ever make the NBA (at least since I started watching in 66-67) and it wasn't close.

Surely Slo-Mo Joe Ingles gets a look in here.

Ingles is a good challenger, v. Kyle Anderson for the SF spot I assume?

That's fair. I guess I kinda consider him a PG on offense, hider on defense.
