Re: HEAT Check : 3rd ALL Time HEAT Best Player
I think Butler's and Mourning's peaks are not too far from one another and each have a great claim to be #3 for Heat seasons, 05 Shaq 's RS was around the same vicinity as well. ITO historical significance being factored in too, I say Mourning for now. That very well could change if Butler could lure Dame to Miami, with a title or more to show for it.

All time? Clearly Mourning for me. All time player, belongs in the top 75 over a couple of people in it.
Led a playoff level team, still won a ring as a role player in the rotation later (unselfishness is a pro not a con), and even still works with the org today last I checked with player development for bonus points. Would be good to know how much of a role he plays on Heat culture too from league insiders.
I don't see the case for Butler other than a couple of peak playoff performances. And that's coming from me, someone who disproportionately values playoffs. Accolades, regular season performance on the Heat, and longevity with the Heat specifically (by far) all go to Mourning. LBJ only gets a pass for his shorter stint due to absurd peak and leading them to rings.
If Butler wins a ring and spends a few more years there, I'll give it to him. Until then it's Alonzo.

My first thought was Zo, then I thought about Jimmy.
I'd be inclined to say Zo was better...but Jimmy may have moved past him in franchise legacy.

If it's just best peak, LeBron would be first and Shaq might be 5th. If it's most important to Heat over the course of Heat history, then Wade/LeBron/Zo/Jimmy, but who is 5th? Rony? Timmy? Shaq? Udonis? Bam?

I'd go with Mourning. He was instrumental in elevating the Heat franchise in the early Riley years.
Butler peaked higher and clearly has better playoff performances, so it wouldn't take long for him to pass Mourning.

Tim Hardaway had some really good seasons with Miami.

Mourning. No issue with Butler, or even Shaq.

I’m not a big enough fan to say for certain (there seems to be a pretty close grouping there), but Bosh not even being mentioned is pretty surprising.

No surprise. Bosh was good but he doesn;t have much of case.

Mourning beats Butler on longevity with 5 years for the Heat pre kidney problems vs 4 for Butler, 02 where he's still decent, and being one of the best backup Cs of all time on 06 run is not irrelevant.

Ooh..after looking it up, true. His peak there is fairly strong, but but not spectacular. He really wasn’t active as long as I thought he was. I thought his counting stats would be much higher.
