This assumes KD is the reason Curry's shots are less contested as oppposed to... Curry being quicker and more active-off ball and therefore getting himself open more.

The main benefit of playing with Steph is that KD got to avoid double-teams. To be clear, Curry also was doubled far less but KD's effect on team effeciency was alot weaker than steph's(weaker than "bad" playmaker 2017 kawhi)

Looking at only the playoffs, there is a case to be made that KD was better than Curry from 2017-2019.

The issue with this is that it was very clear Curry had the most attention put on him, especially in the Finals (versus the RS)

To argue KD was better when he had one of the 'easier' times for an ATG is a bit of a stretch.

They both synergised well with each other.

Steph still got assigned primary defensive attention. Especially during the finals.

We've seen what both look like when they're the main defensive assignment.

Unfortunately the tape tells a different story:

Steph drew more attention and created alot more. He also very obviously was not facing near the defensive attention he faced in 15 and 16 and a typical lone-offensive superstar would be dealing with.
