Who's the best guard/wing going forward?

Post#1 » by iggymcfrack » Sat Dec 9, 2023 1:42 am

I was thinking about this today and realizing there are actually a ridiculous number of guys that are at least close enough to the top to have at least somewhat of a valid argument. Which guard/wing would you most like to have signed to your team on a multi-year max contract. I don't want to focus on salary here. Just which player would you want to build a team around for the foreseeable future.

Luka and it's not close. He is in a tier of his own.
Tier 2 - Tatum, Booker
Tier 3 - SGA, Edwards, Haliburton

Meh. You have to admit that, at least for this season, SGA and Haliburton have been playing at a level of their own (after Doncic).

I don't think, besides reputation and better playoff resume of some players (Tatum, Booker) that solely based on this season you can argue for anything but Doncic-Haliburton-SGA trio on its own.

Doncic has probably the highest upside
Haliburton is the best player offensively
SGA is the best two-way player

I think I'd go with Doncic individually, but I also believe that SGA is in the best position to succeed in real life (among these three), so it may affect the answer on this question 2-3 years from now. Thunder are health, a year in terms of players development and decent frontcourt addition from being a decade-long contender.
